We eat at PF Changs at least 3 - 4 times a month and have never had a bad experience. You can select the standard chinese faire (sweet and sour shrimp, fried rice, etc.) but we recommend you try something new. I will admit my husband always choses the the Crispy Honey Chicken but I have tried almost the entire menu. I would highly recommend the Salt and Pepper Prawns (this dish came to us one evening by accident and we fell in love with it). Also love the Shrimp and Candied Walnuts (it is sweet and salty and pefect for summer) and Lemongrass Shrimp (currently on the specials menu). For an appetizer we only have either the Chicken Lettuce Wraps or the Shrimp Dumplings. The biggest 'problem' with eating at PF Changs is the crowd - Monday and Tuesday evenings are usually the slower nights, but if you go on a weekend - go early or go late.

We had been to PF Chang restaurants elsewhere, so we were looking forward to our first visit to this one in Richmond with our friends. One in our party ordered a bottled beer, after we got our drinks we were told that beer was not available in the bottle, so our friend ordered a ginger beer = specifically stating that he did not want the draft beer that had been offered. After waiting for another 10-15 minutes, our friend finally got what looked to be a draft beer, not the ginger beer that was ordered. We waited ANOTHER 10-15 minutes to try and get what he ordered, but the waiter did not return and our friend drank the draft beer anyway, since our appetizers had arrived, we were very hungry and he needed a drink with it. Our appetizers arrived, but no plates to eat them on. AGAIN, our waiter had disappeared and we waited until the chicken wrap filling was almost cold before we stopped another waiter to get plates, so we could eat the food as it was growing colder. Our main courses arrived, but not mine. The person who delivered them was told that mine was missing, but we had to wait AGAIN, for about 10-15 minutes for mine to arrive. Mind you, when we arrived at the restaurant, we had all had a full, busy day and we were all very hungry - waiting due to poor service was not what we had planned on. The food overall was not as good as we had expected. It was all too salty and mine especially was supposed to taste of ginger, but was bland except for it being way too salty and probably MSG to boot, I was up most of the night drinking water and bloating. When we got our bills, our friend was charged for the draft beer, which ended up being a Kirin (he had originally ordered a Miller light in the bottle, so it was NOTHING close to what he had ordered, yet he went ahead and drank it rather than wait). Overall, it was average food, with VERY poor service. I would NOT recomomend this PF Changs.

My husband & I have dined here for lunch and dinner. Both experiences were outstanding. The wait staff was attentive and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was clean and fresh !

While I love the lettuce wraps as much as anybody, the rest of the menu is the same basic stuff that you find in any neighborhood chinese resraurant - only way more expensive. If you like to spend more than you have to for mediocre chinese food just so you can sit in a nicely decorated dining room, this is the place for you. The last time there I tried a noodle dish that was terrible. The noodles were all stuck together in a starchy glob that would have library paste look appetising. When the waiter came by with the standard "how was everything", I told him I didn't think it was very good at all. He gave me the deer in the headlights look for a few seconds and just walked off.

Pros: Nicely decorated

Cons: Too expensive for the same old stuff
