Boring
by hansanjuan
A piece of meat in the middle of a white plate, looks unappetizing. They even forgot the sauce for the steak. Then they showed poor manners by refolding my napkin while I was in the restroom! Where did this rude practice start?! What did I get for all that money spent there? Disappointed.
- Pros: Parking convenience
- Cons: Tense, dry, same product cheaper elsewhere
Prime beef, a comfortable atmosphere and an extensive, user-friendly wine list are the signatures of this upscale steakhouse.

In Short
With a decor of dark wood, leather upholstery and soft lighting, this clubby steakhouse has a warm, upscale feel. The menu's focus is prime beef (aged up to four weeks), from bone-in rib eye and filet mignon to New York strip drizzled with bearnaise sauce. Classic seafood offerings include lobster tails, steamed crab legs and wild Alaskan salmon; sides, served a la carte, include baked potato and chipotle mac and cheese.
overpriced for quality

the first time i ate there, it was great.
however, the second time, the steaks were not cooked as we orderd, the sides were cold, and service was slow
Good, great service

I love steak, and it was my husbands turn to pick our weekly date night restaurant. He picked Flemings. Its got a nice dark atmosphere (which I love), but its very loud. He requested a booth when he made a reservation, which they made sure they got us. The GM came to us mid-way through our meal to make sure all was well. The server was great. Caesar salad was so-so. The steak was good, but I thought Mortons steak was better. I had the seasonal pumpkin bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious. Of course, I LOVE pumpkin and I LOVE bread pudding, so you have to like that stuff in order to appreciate it. Overall, it was good, maybe even a little better than good, but didn't make me jump and down by any means.
- Pros: service
- Cons: loud
Steak was mediocre
by lawahoo2001
It's a nice enough place, but Copper Grill at Short Pump Mall is MUCH better - better food, ambience, service, and value. Note that they do not grill their steaks here. They broil them and put butter on them, like Ruth Chris. Copper Grill will really grill your steak - the way steak was meant to be eaten.
- Pros: convenient location at Stony Pointe mall
- Cons: overpriced; atmosphere is lacking (sorry, but don't care for Dave Matthews playing in the background when I'm paying so much for dinner)
Anniversary Place
by rich_a
My wife and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse in Richmond, VA.
My wife was immediately impressed by our server as she changed our napkins from white to black to avoid white lint from sticking to my wife's black dress.
Flemings has an extensive wine list; however, instead we started off with Manhattans. My wife ordered on the rocks. Mine was ordered straight up and was shaken and served at the table. Both were very good. We were served a complimentary tray of seasoned toasted bread slices and celery sticks along with butter and a tasty spread made with gorgonzola cheese, champagne and cranberry bits. This was a sufficient appetizer so we did not order one. We ordered the Portobella mushroom and spinach salad and requested it split. It was one of the best salads we have ever eaten.
For the main course, we both ordered the 8 oz. filet with a single side of Flemings potatoes. The filets were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were scalloped with additions of jalapeno and cheddar cheese. This combination was excellent and the single side was more than adequate for two.
Dessert was Creme Brule and was a complimentary anniversary gift. We ordered coffee with dessert.
Our server was efficient and friendly. She was assisted by a manager trainee who offered a flashlight to better read the menu and a stretcher at my request in case the Manhattans were a little too strong.
The atmosphere was nice but somewhat noisy. I understand that Flemings is thought to be frequented by business and date clients, but we saw several teenagers and families there.
The tab for our dinner was $103 + tipbut for the level of service and quality of food was worth every penny. The only exception was the drinks, which I thought were overpriced (Manhattan Rocks - $9.50; straight up - $11.00).
Ordinary Food and Service, Over Priced for What You Get
by jimrowe
Average filet and below average salmon. Baked potato and mashed potatoes were also very ordinary. Service was average to slow, even though there were only a few others having dinner. Better food and service at their cheaper chain, Outback - and, just about all of the other chains (Topekas, Hops, even Lone Star). There was nothing really bad, just nothing great either, and certainly nothing to justify their prices. Don't understand how they get away with it when there are so many other places to go in the area, although at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, they were almost empty and maybe others are also going elsewhere. Finally, it really is distractive to have the flatware immediately removed, and the table wiped down, after each course.
- Pros: Not many people there, not busy, didn't have to wait for a table.
- Cons: Ordinary food, below average service, with higher than normal prices.
Not worth the wait!

We had reservations (about 5 or 6 weeks in advance) for aour anniversary. We arrived a few minutes early and were told our table would be ready "in a few minutes." We decided to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was so busy he was literally throwing ice (Some landed in my lap.) trying to keep up. We were finally seated 1 hour and 15 minutes later. Needless to say, but this ruined the entire meal. The only saving grace (as the food was only mediocre) was our wonderful waitress. She was the only bright spot in the entire evening.
- Pros: Our waitress
- Cons: EVERYTHING else!
Amazing dinner in the private diningroom!
by 34charlie
We had an amazing dinner for fourteen people in one of the private dining rooms. Fleming's is great for groups. I had heard that it can be noisy but the private room was quiet and we had great conversation. The wine list is the best in Richmond. I had a different wine with each course and the steaks are heaven. I can't wait to go back!
- Pros: private diningroom, great atmosphere, huge wine selection
Great steak!
by tlopez99
Flemings is quite pricey, but the steaks are seriously great. We had a bone-in filet mignon that was to die for, and a NY strip that was very good. Unfortunately, the side dishes are ala carte and nothing special. The wine list is amazing and probably one of the largest in the area, tons of wines by the glass to choose from which is nice if your the only wine drinker. Personally, I liked the decor and atmosphere at Flemings, but wouldn't expect an intimate dinner there as it can be a bit loud and busy.
- Pros: steaks
- Cons: Expensive
