I went here for their indulgent hand and foot ritual which sounds heavenly. Unfortunately, this tiny little salon only had enough room to provide this service in a converted closet (and I don't mean a walk in closet) Although they tried to make this closet nice, you sit on a big high, uncomfortable bench with your head nearly hitting the ceiling. To make it even less relaxing, there is no door on the closet, so everyone going to the bathroom next to the closet gets to peek in and see what's going on. They also have the washer and dryer right there as well, so it was very noisy. The bowl where you get to soak you feet, although very modern looking, was one of those half spheres, so if your foot is any bigger than a 3rd grader, it's very uncomfortable, not to mention the 1/4 inch glass lip you can rest your feet on. Overall, the salon is nice, but I wouldn't return. I've had a more relaxing hand and foot treatments at the little shops all over the area for a lot less money.
Pros: The salon smells great
Cons: Location was hard to find, parking was tough, too noisy, not comfortable

Metamorphosis is a great spa! It's tucked away in the Carytown area in a quaint location. Immediately when you walk in, you can smell the exotic scents of lavendar, peppermint and other fragances they have available. They have comfortable sofas and chairs you can sit in while you wait and they serve your choice of teas or citrus water. Heavenly! I've received the steam shower and massages and they are both wonderful! The steam shower is a must before any treatment. The massages are great! The technicians allow you to mix together several oils to develop your fragance for your session. It's quiet, soft music plays while you are getting your treatment and the deep tissue massages are great! I would highly recommend this place. Only cons - prices are a little steep. the place is small (not really good for groups or parties) and it was cold in the massage rooms on the several times I went.
Pros: Love the aroma when you walk in; Steam Showers; Deep Tissue Massages
Cons: Not large enough for groups; Cold massage rooms: Prices are a little high

I started my holiday shopping early this year at metamorphosis! There sign outside caught my eye and I realized what I was going to get my family and friends this year. I went in this weekend and bought about 10 gift certificates and a bunch of cute gift ideas. The staff was very helpful and provided me with a lot of ideas for little stocking stuffers!! I’m talking about really nice teas I bought for my mother, custom bath salts and awesome candles for my sister. I was excited to see that they even had a men’s product line for my dad too! Basically I was so pumped that I finished my shopping before thanksgiving this year I wanted to share it with everyone!
Pros: retail,staff!
Cons: none at all!!!

I read the raving reviews about this spa and I was very excited about trying it out. I made an appointment to have my eyebrows threaded which was advertised on their website. I was told to come 15 minutes earlier to fill out paperwork. When I arrived the front desk lady was very rude had no idea what I was talking about so I waited patiently for my appointment. I was not offered anything to drink which I thought was customary in a salon. When I was called in after waiting 40 minutes, the beautician stated she was not comfortable with threading and she would wax and tweeze my eyebrows. I appreciated her honesty but I could have had my eyebrows waxed at my regular salon. I asked to speak to a manager about my poor treatment and about why an appointment was made with someone who is qualified to do the threading. I was curtly told that no manager was available and one would call me. It has bee 1 month and no one has called. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS 3rd rate spa.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Service

I am an active professional male who moved here about 2years ago from California. I take maintaining my body and mind very seriously and have incorporated Spa Services which include Facials, Massage and Meditation along with serious physical activity. Since here in Richmond I have tried many "Spas" and have been very disappointed. I also notice men in Richmond don't see Spa service as a "Guys" thing to do. Well, a Tri athlete friend of mine told me to go to Metamorphosis a place he says he has gotten the best massage he has ever gotten. On that recommendation I did and it has been one of the best things I have found since moving here. I had an amazing Sports massage, steam and a facial. Plus, they have a men's skin care line I have found to be awesome. Check it out!
Pros: Great Services, Great Esthetics, Great Staff
Cons: no down town location

I normally go to another spa, but I decided to give Metamorphosis a try. I walked in and felt like I was some place exotic and the aroma which I could detect instantly, made me take in a deep breath of wonder. I loved the cedar trees in the room which I receive a Shiatsu massage! I got the Nirvana on the Nile Package. I added on the massage; since I am such a Spa Junky-best I've had. They made me feel as if they had all day to spend with me, and I was never rushed. Best of all ... the FACIAL! Again, the aromatherapy was fanatastic and of course my skin felt great. I heard about Metamorphosis by word of mouth, and I'll definitely go back! It's the new "IT" spa for me. Did I mention my Babylonian Purification Rub... I'll be back with friends.
Pros: Great atmosphere , Fabulous service, Unique product
Cons: We need more

I visit family in Richmond from New York, arguably the spa capital of the world, several times a year, and have been very pleased with Metamorphosis. While the services are on the higher end of the price scale for a smaller city, I have had nothing but excellent experiences here and would highly recommend this spa to any of my friends. The skin care line alone is worth coming here for-- the products smell delicious and make my skin feel like silk! The deep tissue massage I had was the best I've had in years. The staff is very accomodating and even the front desk staff made me feel right at home.
Pros: Great staff, No blowdryers!, Real aromatherapy
Cons: Somewhat expensive, No downtown location

Went to Metamorphosis on a recommendation 8 months ago and fell in love. I go every two weeks, and will never leave. The personal service, talented staff, and unique atmosphere make for an experience unlike the "conveyer belt" spas I've been to previously in Richmond. When I am in the area and don't have an appointment, I even stop by to say hello. I just like being there. I have referred 6 of my friends and they have all become redulars - what else do I need to say? Thank you for making my life better! (seems like everyone loves this place
Pros: Incredible Service, Talented Personnel, Cool atmosphere
Cons: None

Your massages have great value, especially when you find the right staff member and the fact that you give your "du jour" specials. Your facials are way over priced for what you get...I really loved the facial but compared to many other salons, it felt like only 1/3 or 1/2 of the same service was performed...so what was done was great, just not enough services provided. Some of your pricing seems to be out of wack...like eye lash tinting...I use to be able to get it done for $15 anywhere in Chicago...but I think you charge $40. I really love your salon but think your prices are high...maybe just for me...go for it if your other clients are willing to pay your prices! I'm not that familar with the Richmond market but I would have thought it would be on par or less than Chicago.
Pros: staff, feel welcomed, treatment well done
Cons: expensive, noisy, expensive
