My dog Nekko has been going there since he was a puppy. He has not been recently because he has a fenced yard now. But everytime I would pull up to Crossroads he would get so excited and try to jump out of the truck and run into the back yard. It this place abused animals OR was unpleasant I dont think my dog would try to jump the fence to get in!!!! I would recommend this facility to anyone, Great staff and great facility. Thanks...From nekko and Keena.

We have used both Crossroads daycare and boarding for both our dogs over the last six years, and we couldn't be happier. We pick up tired, happy dogs, and they are always excited to get in the car to go to "school" every day and race through the door each morning. The friendly staff is always willing to go out of their way for any request, such as bathing, food requirements, etc., and they seem to genuinely care about the dogs who are at the facility. They have done a great job of getting to know my pooches in order to make sure their playmates are well-suited to their personalities. As a dog owner, I would never expect a boarding kennel to be immaculate or odor free, just like I'd never expect my dog to be clean all the time, but the staff at Crossroads is constantly mopping and cleaning. More important than a constantly clean floor is the peace of mind that my furry "kids" are cared for. A huge pro is that there is a vet's office attached to the building. There's also a swimming pool, separate room and outdoor yard for small dogs, indoor playrooms for rainy days, and a huge play yard.

I have been taking my dog to Crossroads West since he was a puppy. He is now 6 and I still use Crossroads. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I feel safe boarding my baby @ Crossraods because I know FOR SURE he is being treated well and taken very good care of. I wouldn't take my business anywhere else. As to the owner, he is AWESOME. He is very personable and you can tell he loves all of his boarders. You can just see the passion for all animals in his eyes. Highly recommended!!
Pros: Great owner with a knowledgeable staff!

Went for a tour of Crossroads. It is smelly and gross. I would never take my dog there. The man who operates this facility is a fool. I think that it is wrong of him to write a review here on citysearch to keep his rating up, when he has gotten so many other bad ratings. Of course he will say his place is the best. DUH. In my opinion Crossroads stinks.
Pros: none
Cons: everything else

I recently boarded my 2 dogs over Thanksgiving and was most pleased!! My dogs came out with tails wagging and really did not want to leave! Take it from me ...I have been boarding my 2 labs there for 3 years!! I was actually picking up at the same time as "The Worst Ever" person below - and must say that this person's review is highly inaccurate. In actuality, her dog came out before mine - clean and happy with tail wagging!! This person cursed at the Crossroads staff girl for not carrying out her dog's large bed with the dog. This person was extremely rude to the staff and then cursed about her bill - when this place is actually very very reasonable for all that you get!! The only time anyone laughed in front of her was when her dog jumped up on the staff girl and kissed her!! Anyway, this person waited for me in the parking lot and told me that she was going to get her friends to post bad reviews, and asked ME to post a poor review - and I told her that I LOVED the place, have been coming here for 3 years, and that it would be dishonest for me to do that!! Some people are just into being rude and lying unfortunately. For anybody looking for a place to board - THIS IS IT!! They definately mop and clean constantly - and I have never seen the place unclean or stinky!!! A boarding facility as large and popular as this should be allowed to occasionally smell like dogs because guess what?...THEY BOARD DOGS!!! They have large dog yards, inside playrooms for rainy days, a dog pool, excellent staff, and great rates!! The real proof is how HAPPY MY DOGS ARE when I pull into the parking lot!! Crossroads West Skool for Dogs is head and shoulders above anyplace I have been!! You should go see it for yourself - you will love it too!!
Pros: Large yards, Inside playrroms, Clean and well kept

Thanks to the customers of mine that pointed me to this webpage, (I like everyone else I talked to had never heard of it), and for the kind words said about us! As the owner Crossroads West Skool for Dogs, I have requested several times that this website remove a post that contains slandor towards myself, my great staff, and my business, however I get no reply to email or phone calls. On 11/30, "tla222" says in 11/30 post, "This place abuses and mistreats animals." A false statement such as this constitutes slandor according to law and according to this website under its' own terms and conditions.. Furthermore, being the first time we've come accross this website, and coming up on our 8th year of caring for the dogs of our good friends and customers, it is pretty obvious to us that a cluster of bad reviews all posted within a 3-4 day period is a concentrated effort of, most likely, someone who either cannot run their own business effectively, has been terminated from our facility, and/or feels like they have an ax to grind. As always, we invite folks to tour our facility between the hours of 9-4 Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment so that you may see our clean and dog-friendly facility first-hand. Bruce H. Miller / Owner Crossroads West Skool for Dogs Proud member of the A.S.P.C.A Frequent Contibuter to International Fund for Animal Welfare Supporter of AARF and all non-euthanizing shelters and facilities ----- I have given our facility a 5-star rating because I have THE GREATEST STAFF providing excellant care to our many regular (and new) canine guests.
Pros: Vanessa and her staff are the best! Dogs have fun! Separate areas for small and large dogs.

I have been using Crossroads for years and I must say, I could not disagree MORE with any negative postings about this facility. This place is clean, the staff is caring, the animals are well cared for. The loves the dogs...he spent personal time with my chows the very first day I brought them. I know, because I caught him sitting in the middle of the floor with them/getting to know them!! :) I was worried they would not do well in daycare and by the time I got back that day, they were playing and had a great time. I'm sold on this facility...I've sold many of my friends on this facility as well! The owner does a great deal of rescue in the Richmond area so I know he cares about the dogs. Everytime I come, the staff is playing with dogs! Lastly, there are vet services offered right next door should your pet need veterinary care while boarding. From an owner of "senior" dogs, it is good to know that they can receive vet care asap if necessary. I hope this review page is not being used by competitor businesses in the area or folks with an "ax to grind" because of wanting money back because their "dog didn't sleep in the right bed." For all others reading this, go check out the place, you'll like it. The dogs eat, have fun and have a good time being dogs.
Pros: Large facility with separate areas for dog sizes

I would recommend Crossroads to anyone who loves their dog and wants them to have fun being a dog!!! The staff has been great everytime I bring my dog in and she really seems to love them. She is always healthy and happy when and pick her up and she can't wait to go play when I drop her off. This is a great place to board.

Not recommended at all. The owner tends to get in as many dogs as he can without having proper care and handling leaving only two people alone with as many as over 50 dogs at a time. With that you can see that the place doesnt smell very well, and you can notice that when you walk in. It really seems that he only cares about the money. I have known multiple people to pick there dog up in a state totally unexceptable to any pet owner. It just seems that he takes however many dogs he can for without having enough people to watch them. I rarely saw him there when I tried the place out. There are DEFINITELY better kennels in the greater richmond area.
Pros: dog pool
Cons: not enough people working to take care of animals
