I have recently made my first 2 trips to Panera Bread. I am a big soup fan, and both the French Onion and Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice were excellent. (I really like that they can be served in a bread bowl, too.) Note that soups change daily, but there are many to choose from each day.

The first time I went, during lunch hour, it was quite overwhelming to stand in the midst of a large hurried crowd and try to read the menu on the wall. Taking a copy home and studying it made my second visit much nicer.

The I.C. green tea with honeydew was my one major disappointment. It was made with a powdered mix, and had a cloying, overpowering taste.

PROS: Great, great food

CONS: Can be busy at times

Fresh-baked goods, fresh-brewed coffee and creative sandwiches served up in relaxed, roomy surroundings.

Bright colors and comfortable furniture give this chain cafe a laid-back feel, with scattered tables that beckon coffee-sipping readers, chatters and diners. All baked goods--bagels, muffins, two dozen kinds of bread--are made fresh on the premises. Sandwiches include turkey-artichoke panini and Asiago roast beef, plus standards like chicken salad and smoked turkey. Soups change daily, but popular choices like broccoli and cheese, chicken noodle and French onion are always on the menu.

Fine bakery and food.

Panera offers good foods while maintaining its quality well. Also all the Panera restaurants are very clean. They tend to be slightly expensive for the fast food restaurant, but as mentioned, this isn't the typical Burger King or McDonald's. And you're really getting some quality foods...
