Go for a stroll in one of the city's best laid-back areas. Enjoy the murals as you walk along the canal and enjoy the beautiful weather. you will be surprised that something this amazing is in the city. Also the stomping ground of the canal cruises. you can stop and take a cruise and learn something new!
Pros: ambience, value, quality, scenic, atmosphere

The Canal Walk is the best 'work in progress' Richmond has seen in YEARS. Anyone expecting overnight success from this redevelopment is expecting failure. Instead, the businesses (especially retailers and restaurants) surrounding the canal are FULLY invested in and committed to its success. Tourists are increasing weekly, and there is more and more to do each month. New construction may cause temporary headaches, but it will truly be 'the spot' to be. (The one major need: pushing local government to fund public facilities! Help!)
Pros: Free, Historical, shopping (LaDiff!)
Cons: No public restrooms, Still renovating, Be patient!

Canal Walk is a wonderful place to take a date. It is quiet, intimate, not to mention beautiful. The proximity to Shockoe bottom and other sites around Richmond make it easy to grab a bite at Sine or Bottom's Up after a long walk along the canal. It really is a perfect spot for a date.
Pros: Free, Location, Beautiful
Cons: No real facilities, No obvious parking
