Crappy Customer Service

I went to the spa to get an airbrushed tan. The lady that did my tan was very nice and professional. She didnt want to do my face at first but after talking to her she agreed. I had to get her to go over me a few times to get the color I liked but in the end I was fairly happy with the results. THe next day after showering much of it came off and my legs didnt even look like they had been sprayed except for a streak. I called Ava to see if I could get reimbursed I was told no but I could get resprayed. After talking to the lady that sprayed she said it could be that it didnt work with my skin. So respraying would be a waste for both of us. Ava then claimed she didnt like my attitude and woulnt give me money back or respray me. She accused me of lieing, she changed my story a when she talked to the lady that sprayed me and was just simply nasty and rude. I called her back on the number she called me on, and it happened to be her cell which I did not know that. SHe got nasty and told me to never call her on her cell!!

Overall horrible customer service!!! AVA was very rude and unprofessional

DO NOT VISIT!!!!!!

I went for an appt with the owner, Ava, she had to be called out of the bar she was with an employee!! When she came to wax me she smelled of smoke and alcohol. It was all I could do not to gag. What kind of owner drinks on the job and allows her employees to drink as well? Only one that needs to go to AA.

The other employees were real nice and you could tell they were embarassed by her actions.

Think about it before you go do you want to be taken care of by a drunk

Best Massage in Richmond

I truly enjoy the services that I receive at Ava's . I have a pinched nerve in my left leg and my Nuerogolist reccommend that I get a leg massage three times a week. I have had massages by Nargus before and I know how good and knowledgeable that she is. After my 5th massage I am beginning to feel better and able to sleep at night. If you are having similar problems I reccommend that you try Nargus instead of taking medicine that will cause side effects. Sharon is also good too.

Fantastic place to go!

This was my first experience at Ava's and i loved it. I brought my sister here for her birthday and she loved it too. They treated us greatly and the staff was super funny. The staff made it so great that they felt like family. April did a fantastic job giving a full body massage and Annett was great at my sisters facial and make up. Becky was excellent at the pedicure too! Everyone was fantastic. At first i was a little concerned about going because of the reviews, but i had to go for myself and let me tell you, this place is extraordinary! i would recommend this Spa to anyone who is looking to have a great time and looking for a friendly environment.

Great Salon

I have been patronizing Ava's monthly for over 2 years now with no complaints. I have received services including mani/pedi, massages, waxing and hair. The prices are reasonable and service is excellent. Everyone has always treated me with the utmost respect. In these economic difficulties, it is refreshing to have a place where I can go to relax, with no hassles. I have and would recommend Ava's to all.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I am a really tough wax but Ava, the owner, really knows what she's doing. I ask for her by name and have never been turned away for exactly the appt I want. The staff is very friendly and definitely knows how to treat a client. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other salons but the service puts Ava's over the top :)

I like this place!

I've been to Ava's twice - the first time was for my wedding day - I did a wedding package for myself and maid of honor. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They also did a great job! My hair, nails, and make up were perfect I couldn't have asked for anything different. Since they did such a great job I went back to get my hair cut which I was a walk in and didn't make an appointment. Justin cut my hair and added some highlights (which I've never had done before) He did an awesome job and I would recommend him to anyone he will def cut my hair again in the future. I really enjoy this place and would tell anyone to go there if they are looking for quality work.

I see a lot of people have bad reviews on this place - but I've always been satisfied with everyone at Ava's.

TACKY PLACE, DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!

This tacky place dont even rate one star but due to i couldnt have this published without a rating, I was forced to give one but for that reason only!!! The so called Great Reviews must of been written by AVA herself. I went to this place for a nice relaxing pamper day and left more stressed than when I went in. Ava, the owner takes your money and could care less about you thats why she charges half of your appt when she books it. Ava is a VERY RUDE and defensive person. Her attitude is nothing to be desired not even by her own staff! I made an appt with AVA herself and she scheduled me for the next day. I went in and the hell began. It was so unorganized! They started me off with my manicure, then I got put in the room for my facial which I was left there for quite sometime due to another customer had to have her nails painted. I had to keep getting up checking to see if she was coming back for me. Finally my facial was done (mind you as a first time customer, I was never given a facial card so I was never asked about my skin type or if I had any allergies or skin problems nor did they give me a massage card asking me if I had any problems, spas have you fill all of this out before they even see you). I was then put in a robe and slippers and brought out back to the front of the place to have my nails painted, so here I am sitting in a robe where other customers and anyone else walking in the shop can see me! After my nails get painted, they take me to get the massage, I tell AVA that Im not happy she tells me RUDELY that since I called yesterday that she was trying to accomodate me and I told her that shes the one that offered me that day and if she didnt have the time she should of scheduled me for a day that she did and this its very unorganized with the order of my services. She tells me that she's very organized and kept RUDELY going back and forth with me being very nasty. I told her since I didnt have the massage yet and I was unhappy if I can just pay for the cheaper package that included all what I already had done and she told me straight up NO and that it was scheduled and she wasnt going to change it. She has no concept of customer satisfaction!!! The masseuse came and got me and tried to calm me down. He takes me in the room and he ask me if I have any problems and thats when I tell him they didnt have me fill out a card and he gets me one to fill out. I get the massage (AJ was a sweetheart and a great masseuse, too bad he works there), mind you, I just got my nails painted so they completely got messed up. After the massage, then I had my pedicure and my nails repainted. Now does that order makes any sense???? Absolutely not!! How can you relax when they have you moving from one place to another!! I treat myself to a spa package every 3 mts and this tacky place would never have my business again. The only reason why I went there from the beginning is my reg spa closed up so I was searching for a new one and I will continue my search because i spent $200 and thank God, I didnt get the higher package, i figured I would get one of the cheaper package to see how it was and I left completely unsatisfied and totally ripped off! Too many spas in richmond to have to deal with the disrespect from AVA and her tacky place!

i got my extenstions done at Ava's

this review is SPOT ON! that Ava is a batsh*t crazy liar.

spent $800 on extensions that lasted about two weeks and was left with glue pieces with no hair attached. she said my hair must have not had the right chemical composition for fusion - so she offered to re-do the extensions....why would it take the second time? i asked for my money back and was told no refunds. never did Ava apologize for offer any other words of empathy. the original stylist did a great job on color and the girl who freed me of the glue and straggles did a great job on cut and style. I was hoping for at least a few complimentary hair cuts, however nothing was offered and the owner could not be found (as usual).

Awful Spa-- DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE!

1. High turnover of staff, especially hair stylists

2. Staff is below par and needs training in massage therapy, hair styling and waxing

3. No shower facilities. A good spa has this amenity.

4. Bathroom is always unclean. It looks like it's cleaned only weekly

5. The owner lies and is manipulative. Her business acumen is terrible.

6. Facility is cluttered, dark and unappealing. Do you want to be a boutique or salon? Reminds me of Chinatown in Manhattan.

7. Ask for a particular staff member and Ava will not honor that request. You won't know until you get there.
