This restaurant is awesome! Yummy cheese fondue and delicious chocolate fondue! I don't really care for dessert but it can't be missed at The Melting Pot. This restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening out.
It's hip to dip at this cozy fondue-lover's paradise.

In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.

I went for the first time with a group at work. we had a great time. Our service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Although this restruant for me is for special occassions only due to pricing. I definietly cant wait to go back. i really am surprised ot hear how poorly a family with children was treated there. You should have heard our group have fun. we know we were a bit loud with our laughing and having fun but no one complained. I always recommend to wait a day and put your thoughts in writing to management. maybe they would would have like to have the family back for another chance,
- Pros: great food, great service, good ambienace
- Cons: a little expensive for regular dining
Romantic setting. Good wine list. Inept service

We have been to MeltingPot restaurants in cities other than Richmond and they have been fine. The one in Richmond suffered from what seemed to be high staff turnover and poor training. The food is good, and the wine list superb, though there is no one there when we visited who seemed to know anything about the wines on the list. Service was slow, and staff only wanted to help "their tables". We had to wait a long time between courses which was unusual because the cooking is done at the table. The average age of the staff ("manager" included) seemed to be about 23. We expected much more given the price point.
- Pros: wine list
- Cons: slow, inexperienced service.

One of the most unique and exciting restuarants in the Richmond area. The menu consists of various types of fondue, including appetizers (such as cheese fondue), a main course (usually a broth fondue with meats, seafood, and vegetables), and a desert fondue (a large variety, and my personal favorite). The prices match a higher end restuarant, but the experience is definitely worth it! Perfect for special occassions!

The Melting Pot is a great place to go for any sort of special occasion. It's a bit pricey, but it is definately worth it. The menu is comprised of different choices of fondue which you cook at your own table. For an appetizer, try the bread and apples with cheddar fondue. Try to save room for the amazing dessert fondues if you can!
Not a Family Restaurant

This was not our first visit . Our previous visits were delightful - HOWEVER!!! We took our daughter for her 14th Birthday and thought it would be a great experience for her. The $14.95 balloon and picture frame was to be at our table for her - per our reservation. However - nothing was there. We have four girls between the ages of 9 and 14. They are all very well behaved. In fact, we frequent Copper Grill and Morton's with them in tow - and have never had anything but compliments on their behavior. We were seated in a small room with another family (their children were younger than ours) - at first we thought this was great. We could barely hear our conversation above theirs. However, the manager informed my husband we were being disruptive to their table. We finished the rest of our meal in silence. My husband spoke to the manager (after I took the girls to the car) and he replied this was not a family environment restaurant, it was for romance! However - I will say our server was very good and she treated us well.
- Pros: Menu and Waitstaff
- Cons: The Management
