We have been to MeltingPot restaurants in cities other than Richmond and they have been fine. The one in Richmond suffered from what seemed to be high staff turnover and poor training. The food is good, and the wine list superb, though there is no one there when we visited who seemed to know anything about the wines on the list. Service was slow, and staff only wanted to help "their tables". We had to wait a long time between courses which was unusual because the cooking is done at the table. The average age of the staff ("manager" included) seemed to be about 23. We expected much more given the price point.
Pros: wine list
Cons: slow, inexperienced service.

This was not our first visit . Our previous visits were delightful - HOWEVER!!! We took our daughter for her 14th Birthday and thought it would be a great experience for her. The $14.95 balloon and picture frame was to be at our table for her - per our reservation. However - nothing was there. We have four girls between the ages of 9 and 14. They are all very well behaved. In fact, we frequent Copper Grill and Morton's with them in tow - and have never had anything but compliments on their behavior. We were seated in a small room with another family (their children were younger than ours) - at first we thought this was great. We could barely hear our conversation above theirs. However, the manager informed my husband we were being disruptive to their table. We finished the rest of our meal in silence. My husband spoke to the manager (after I took the girls to the car) and he replied this was not a family environment restaurant, it was for romance! However - I will say our server was very good and she treated us well.
Pros: Menu and Waitstaff
Cons: The Management

I took my wife there for her B'day and it was a night to rememmber. I had requested a table off the main traffic aisle and we were delighted with the last boothe in a quite corner. The four course dinner was the best. Plenty of food, fine flavors and very attentive service combined for a memorable experience. Be prepared to drop some bucks but it is well worth it.
Pros: Unique and pleasant experience
Cons: Takes time to enjoy

Try this uniquely themed restaurant. See what your first date is made of! Classy, romantic, good place to cozy up for intimate conversation. We had the swiss cheese fondue, followed by the Land and Sea cooked in the Mojo broth. All was very tasty. I'd offer a better selection of veggies to dip in the cheese, though. Dessert was over the top. We had the Flaming Turtles (caramel and chocolate with pecan) Fondue. Comes with a yummy selection of prime fruit and cake. Our waitress wasn't the most attentive, in comparison with other waitstaff we witnessed.
Pros: Ambiance, Unique night out, Not rushed
Cons: A little pricey

Whoever dislikes this place will not like any restaurant. Someone complained "cheeze cheeze cheeze" and "too much fat." Let me set the facts straight. The first course is one including cheese and breads. The next course you have a variety of items, including all types of meats and vegetables. If you think they have nothing but fatty foods, than you obviously don't eat chicken, beef, seafood, or vegetables. Lastly, you can order an incredible dessert fondue! It's 100% worth every penny!
Pros: service, food, quality
Cons: make a reservation

This is one of my favorite places to have a quiet dinner. The cheese fondue was fabulous as well as the seafood fondue! They also have a great wine list. Desert.....absolutely divine!
Pros: friendly staff, good atmosphere
Cons: not inexpensive

What better way to spend a romantic evening with your significant other than to look longingly into one another's eyes as you play with your food?!?

Wonderfully romantic place with great service and food. Not someplace you'd go every night but excellent for special occasions.
