Cozy treats - and retreat.

On a recent rainy Saturday I was shopping at Joe's Market around brunchtime and was turned off by the high prices at their dine-in section, so I decided to go across the street to Palani Drive when it opened at 11:00. So glad I did! The atmosphere was warm, quiet and soothing. The prices were amazingly low for the amount of food I was served. And the food! All fresh-made, natural, healthy, not overwrought. I had a delicious banana-blueberry-mango smoothie, tabbouli with pita crisps, great coffee, and the house creation "Shenandoah" wrap - sweet potato puree, grilled chicken, spinach, just the right dash of vinaigrette and I forget what other delicacies - heaven! I can't wait to go back to Richmond and order it again, and then try the rest of the menu.

Amazing Food- Amazing Service!

I have eaten here many times. They have really cute waitresses that are all soft spoken. This food will make you like vegetarian- or at least non-vegetarian healthy food. I love the fish taco wraps. The humus toubouli is scrumptious and filling. There is so much great selection on the menu- so many great wrap choices, its hard to decide. I left my AMEX card there one time, and the waitress came all the way across the street to give it back to me. Now thats service! They are all nice and polite and you get really great food and decent prices. You can eat out for two and get a great meal for no more than 20$- The food is very filling without being heavy, light without being too light.. its just right!

• Cons: too much too choose from on the menu- its hard to decide!

Palani Drive is the best wrap place I've been in a while. Definitely try the California Jumbalaya and the Pesto Chicken wraps. Top them off with a smoothie. Everything tastes fresh with just the right ingredients. I highly recommend this place.

The Scene
Envision your local sub shop gone California--the walls are a shade brighter, glossy magazines replace tattered "Lost Dog" flyers and the drink menu covers half the wall. High school/college students behind the counter can rattle off an impressive array of La La land additions for your Smoothies: bee pollen, soy protein, gingko biloba, wheat grass, oat bran, and ginseng.

The Food
Wraps have replaced the traditional subs as the main fare (13 different choices, $4.75 each). Packed full of fresh healthy ingredients, these messy monsters require extra napkins and both hands. The Ginger Tuna Salad, Ratatouille, Wasabi and California Jambalaya versions steer you away from the traditional. The evening menu includes quesadillas that are out of this world. Daily soup specials delight (Lentil, Portuguese Potato, Gouda & Broccoli, Sweet Potato, Pumpkin or Black Bean), and many of the blended coffee drinks serve nicely as dessert.

Mocha Shakes ----- Thai Chicken Wrap - what a great way to go down in a calorie fest. Good Times - neat place - and there is always enough to make two meals - so think of the time and money you'll save!
