The Scene
This is one of the few places in town where you can hear rap, hardcore and even rave music. In spite of past dilemmas (the city made the owners install a firewall and the club had to cut its maximum occupancy), Area 51 is clearly a victim of nothing less than its own success.

What to Wear
A high quotient of bare midriffs, hip-hugger slacks and baby tees are de rigeur.

Party Factor
Of the core regulars, few are put off by the discontinuation of alcohol sales at 2am. If you plan to tour Richmond dance clubs, plan to stop at 51, but save it for after 2am when the other clubs close.

Pick-Up Scene
With its late hours, Area 51 attracts bar-hoppers who just can't let a party go, so chances are good you'll find someone to share a beer with.
