They will kick your a$$ out! I know more ppl that have been thrown out of that place than actually go there anymore. Yes Babes keep that up and soon enough you wont have a soul left in this god forsaken city to wonder through the threshhold of your bar and spend money on your pathetic excuse for a bar... other than that its a nice place if you can stand all the evil conniving dks and fgs that go there. Food and drinks are good I know that for a fact. And yeah don't be an idiot and order meatloaf (who the hell does that at a bar anyways?) Sat nights fun and crowded. Bartenders could use a lesson in manners, yeah how about learn to say "thank you" or at least acknowledge my existance when I tip your a$$es.

Pros: volleyball court and pool tables. nice size dance floor

Cons: bad bad bartenders

Last nite was my first time at Babes. I really like the atmosphere. Very friendly toward ALL. Last night (Tuesday) was Line Dancing... Damn! I haven't done that in a long time. I'd like to try out Karaoke on Wednesdays... since I karaoke all around town, but haven't at Babes yet. I'm really hoping my experience with Babe's food last night was a fluke... 'cause it sucked! Don't order the Meatloaf! But hey... Great Gin & Tonics!

Pros: atmosphere, drinks, fun crowd

Cons: food (so far... I'd give it another shot)

If you haven't been to Babes in a while, you should go check it out. The management has done some improvements that really make the bar take a "step up." Flat screen over the dance floor bar to not miss an important game and the volleyball court has been spiffed up - new fencing and a new net. There are also a few more TVs above the pool tables. Great job! Keep up the improvements!

This is the place to be on the 4th Friday of every month. I love the bar food. They have the best chicken wings. Plus the bartenders know how to make a drank. On the 4th Friday of every month they have a Drag King show and it is the best place to be just to have fun. And afterwards it's Flashback Friday's, so you can dance even if you don't know how. It's a great environment with pool tables, beer and even a volleyball court out back (who knew?). I'd reccomend it as a place to stop in and hang out with friends and just be yourself, whoever you are.

Pros: Cover Charge, Drag Shows, Bartenders, Wings

Cons: Smoke

I have been going to this establishment for a few years now. Yes it may be a little run down, but hell, it's Richmond- what place isn't run down in the Fan/Carytown area? The service is great. Maybe if rude people who don't know how to tip wouldn't push their way to the front of the bar line the servers would have an easier job. The food is pretty good during the day, it's mostly Southern fare, at night it's the usually bar food. If you like fun, I would reccoment this place.

Pros: service, drinks, price, vollyball court in back, dance floor

Cons: it can be very crowded sometimes

I just came back to Richmond to visit friends. I was horrified in the condition of Babes and the staff that works there. I used to come to this place back in 94 through 98. This was a place where you could go straight or gay(lesbian) and have a good time. The food was excellent and the place was clean. Now it is run down and the place is a dump it's food is below par. Oh don't let me forget my feet stuck to the floor when I walked across the carpeting. Thank god I was wearing shoes not flip flops. I used to know the owner of babes Daigo. She ran a tight ship and she had a good cook with great food. This place use to have nostalgia as well as being clean. When I ask the unfriendly bar tenders where was Daigo?? They sad who???????? I said the owner!!! She sad Vicki owns this place. That is all she had to say. Daigo, I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Twice I have moved away fro Richmond fo years at a time. And guess what when I got back Babbe's was playting the SAME OLD SAD music. It is like a step into the twilight zone. Welcome to the 21st century please. And for Gawd's sake it is not the L Word so stop dressing like it. You women are not that hot. And what is with this little skater boy look? Must we all dress and act alike. Now don't get me started on all the little "cliques". Women here are not the friendliest I've ever met. Thank Gawd I've known Vicki since before time. It's the only reason to show up for those watered down drinks. So if ya dig this throw on the flannel, comb the mullet and dance your heart away.

Vicky runs a great little establishment in Carytown and has now for some time. It sits on the corner of Auburn and Cary Street and Carytown. Parking is ample and well-lit, and the drinks are cheap. Erin and Liz do a nice job behind the bar although they aren't the fastest bartenders in town....The interior is getting a little rundown and the place is in dire need of a makeover, but I wouldn't call it dirty, just old and dated. My main criticism is that DJ Eric and Trampolina play wayyyy too much hip-hop on Thursdays. Babes could use a "real" DJ abnd not just someone pushing buttons up there. Also, what's with the ridiculous rule of "no requests after midnight"?

Pros: Great owner, Ample parking, Excellent location

Cons: Nearly all girls, Dated and worn, Need better DJ's

If you are looking for a fun, mixed crowd, go on Thursday nights when it is most packed and fun. Other nights that are fun are Drag Volleyball and Sunday night drag show. The rest is mostly for women but I do recommend the more mixed Thursday nights when the crowd is young and hip and mixed. Food is good and cheap!

Pros: Music, Thursday Nights, Cheap Eats

Cons: Not much athmosphere, A/C is weak- gets hot, Not enough hot guys!

This place offers many booths and a large dance floor that fills up around 12:30-1:00. It also has a few pool tables and a volleyball sand pit for the warm nights. The DJ's are pretty good. You know you'll always hear some Melissa Ferrick at some point, it's enevitable. The scene has mostly women. Thursday nights are 18 and up. All else 21.

Pros: Good Parking, Low Cover
