I went to Simone when she was in the Fan District and would not go to anyone else. Then....I moved to Central Pennsylvania and could find no one to compare to her! I traveled back to Richmond to visit my family and get my hair "done" about every three months. That was in 1990, and I finally let go! I didn't know where she went but just saw these on a search and so I can now go back and get a great cut and style that is just right for me -- when I visit Richmond again! Hi, Simone!!! Have written the review several times, but the site is not taking it. So one last try. Went to Scissors for the first time today and I love my hair. My cut feels great and that to me is always the sign of an excellent cut. Not only does it look great, it feels fantastic. Simone worked with my naturally wavy, curly hair and I now finally do not have to resort to the straightener every day. THANK YOU!!!! You will not feel intimidated in this salon as you can in so many...you know...when you sit there...hate it and do not say a word and then tip the stylist on top of it and then go home and cry???? THAT WILL NOT happen at Scissors. Simone made sure I understood if there was anything I was not happy with, talk to her. She is very easy to speak to and is fantastic at hair! Thank you, thank you.... even though I am moving to SC, I will be in Richmond several times a month and will visit Simone again and again....No more hunting down someone to work with my hair.....I finally found someone who worked with my natural wave and not against it. LOVE IT!

I moved down to Richmond a few years ago to go to graduate school. Being from another state, and knowing very few people in the city, I didn't know where to go for a good haircut. So I started out trying a few salons around the city—with no luck. In one instance, I walked away in tears.... And then I fell upon this page on Citysearch one day, and followed up with an appointment at Scissors with Simone. Now I understand why there is such a consensus of great reviews!!! Because it is all true! Simone is truly an artist-hairdresser!! I've found that I like my haircut when I walk out the door, but actually grow to love it more afterward. My most recent haircut has received comments from everyone who sees it, like 'it's so fresh', and just, in general, wonderful feedback, besides the fact that it is super-easy to maintain and wear. It's just a great color and cut, and nothing like I've seen before, which is reflective of how Simone is always refining her craft! I just moved back to New England, and am trying to figure out what I will do from here. Maybe I'll fly down to Richmond. I'm not sure, but I do know that I feel fortunate to have stumbled upon this page and upon my experience at Scissors with Simone.

I moved to Richmond this summer & actually found Scissors on Citysearch. I'm not one to trust everything I read, but I didn't know anyone here yet to get a personal recommendation & I figured if the salon could get virtually perfect ratings, it must be pretty good. I was not disappointed! I have gone to Scissors twice now & had great haircuts both times. I am one to trust my hair stylist's expertise & always give them lots of creative freedom. (I have also only trusted 5 people in my life with my hair!) I told Simone the effect I was looking for & told her that it needed to be low maintenance - and let her do her thing. She nailed it! I love the cut she gave me. Very flattering & easy to maintain. And I'm really picky! The perfect cut falls into place easily & doesn't require hours of styling & that's how this cut works. It's fantastic and I'll stick with this style for a while. I had never ever colored my hair before and had only planned on a haircut for my first visit. Simone convinced me that highlites would do a lot for me. I was a bit leary, but she assured me it would look natural & I could let them grow out and never do it again if I wanted. Was she right! They looked natural & I love them. Add such dimension. Really brings my hair to life. I will probably keep highlites forever. I'd also like to mention how flexible they are in scheduling. I have a demanding travel schedule for work & they have managed to fit me in on short notice, which I really appreciate. All-in-all, I'm thrilled I found Simone at Scissors. I continually get compliments on my hair for weeks after each cut. I'm completely addicted. It is my hair salvation... Thank you, Simone!

Thank you Simone for taking my call! Having just moved here I was a lady in distress...I tried 2 different hair salons and came up empty. Just when I thought I was going to have to make a trip back to Philadelphia to have my hair cut and colored I discovered Scissors! I had tried a place that cost a lot and a place that cost a little and was not satisfied at either. Scissors was just right! The service, the expertice, the quality, and the products all made me know I had finally found the right place. I highly recommend Simone and her talented associates!

After too many boring, average haircuts and cookie-cutter highlights at other salons, I finally brought my mousy brown hair to Scissors and Simone transformed me! My first visit, I became a strawberry blonde and I was so happy with the results and so confident in her talent that I didn't hesitate to go for a more dramatic change the next time... and the next time... and still going... Now I'm a bold redhead with perfect blonde highlights and a $exy inverted bob. Simone is truly a master of her art and I always leave feeling like I got what I asked for but better! And I'm always getting compliments on the cut and color. Complete strangers have even stopped me to tell me how much they love my hair! I drive all the way from Williamsburg to see Simone and I'd drive even farther if I had to!

Pros: Results!!

Cons: Depending on the day and time, parking (on the street) can be limited.

Scissors is by far the best salon that I have ever been to! Their superior customer service and styling expertise made the experience fun and relaxing! I would suggest anyone that is looking for a great color or style job to come on down to Scissors you will definitely not be disappointed!!

I like most people was badly in need of a change. So I got to looking around and reading reviews. Once I read the review about the "Rita" cut I knew I had to call and make an appt. As luck would have it I was able to get in that Saturday. I felt completely comfortable as soon as I walked in. I got to speak with Simone and Jenn on what I was looking for and what we came up with was wonderful!!! Not only was I lucky enough to get such a great color and cut but as I was there I saw this lady with a awesome cut and I just had to ask........YES it was the owner of the "Rita".....I came very close to asking if she minded if I copied her......but I'm going to see if Simone can some up with a one of a kind for me. The Rita cut is fabulous as the lady that wears it!! All of the customers there were great as well. You will never have to look any more. Don't delay another day.....make the call!!! you will not be disappointed!!!!

I have to say I was very impressed with the service along with the quality I received at Scissors Hair Studio. I had an important meeting and was in dire need of a hair cut. As I was downtown, I stumbled across this salon and was hoping I could walk in for a quick trim. As always with any new beauty parlor, I was leery and timid (I am picky about my hair). To my surprise, I was warmly welcomed as I walked into the place. The place was very clean and had pleasurable aroma through out the store. The hair consultant was very thorough and compassionate about my needs. As my wonderful experience began, the peppermint scented shampoo was a tingling and sensational delight. After my hair was reformed, I felt that I had an excellent professional cut at a very reasonable price. I would recommend this place anyone as I felt it was the best unisex salon that I have been to in a long time. Don't expect to pay what is on the website. I went there a few weeks ago and was charged more for a haircut and color than what is in the brochure and on the website. I don't have really long hair its shoulder length, and it didn't have any color on it prior to, so I'm not sure what caused the price to be more, and felt mislead.
