I'm a food expert. As a traveling horseshoe farrier, I eat well & out alot. I'll spare you the details but I'm looking at 387lbs on my portly 5'5" frame. When I'm in VA, I stuff my face @ the Chophouse. I like to eat alone but that doesn't stop the staff from chatting w/me. My wife sometimes comes (you know, ball and chain...) and she knows all their names and thinks they're good people too. I enjoy the fat & juicy COCONUT shrimp because it's heavily breaded (w/coconut). And the sauce, oh the sauce will melt out of your mouth & mess the napkin. I forgot the bread! They give you bread BEFORE the meal, no matter what! No one does this anymore and I appreciate it. Did I mention it's all you can EAT bread? It's a slightly sweet tasting treat & it's not just hot, it's PIPING hot! The butter on the side looks like a little scoop of vanilla ICECREAM. You know what I mean, it's funny how they do that. OK, I usually just get soda to drink since the liver thing a few years ago (12 steps), but they have a good assortment of the hooch if you need it. Big people drinks are all there. I like the soda @Chophouse better than the stuff at the store. They give you more if you run out so theres that too. My other usual appetizer is the chicken tenders w/fries (they give you slaw with it, but I don't believe in cabbage) and it's a meal itself! I estimate it's about 3lbs of white meat that they MAKE there. NO FROZEN JUNK HERE! The fries are SEASONED. Then I get the half slab dinner-babyback ribs. RIBS!!! For the main course, I like to get the 20oz K.C. strip with a side of 16oz All AMERICAN sirloin. I ask for a triple helping of mushrooms & onions to get my five veggies a day. There's a manager there I think might be sweet on my wife since he always talks to us but it's alright! The atmosphere is slightly chilly (OK since I sweat when I eat) but very nice & old timey. They have booths & ketchup IS provided. The glasses are like the ones I have at home. The mints are green PINWHEEL type.

Pros: The food is great. The place it immaculate. The staff is friendly. It's by the MALL

Cons: There are NONE, unless you hate good food.

I have been visiting the chop-house for several years and have always enjoyed the hooottttt bread!!! hott bread is the best around. The fried seafood platter is amazing and the crab cakes ares always pan sauteed to extra-dimensional perfection. The steaks are glorious The cook even offers to meet and greet when available.. he is so personable and friendly oh god his name is tony !!: ) If you have time to stop into the chop house definitely do so!!!

Pros: thumbs way up to the food and service

My wife and I are regulars at The Hill City Chop House, and the staff is great. The managers (esp. Larry) go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food is a very good value, and great quality. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a tasty, homemade meal served by warm, attentive people.

Pros: Great quality for the price, good service.

Cons: Nothing here, we love this place!

I have been a repeat customer of HCCH for several years now. My family and I choose to eat there at least 3 times a week. It is a family atmosphere and on Sunday morning you are sure to see the same customers just like us each week. Many of them we have come to know on first name bases. The staff there is excellent several of the servers have been there for many years Erica, Melody, Will and Cheryl just to name a few. They make you feel welcome know your name and often suggest what to get and know what we like. I suggest this resturant to any one who loves a good steak the steak butter (OMG) and a warm atmosphere. You are guarenteed to get the service you so desire. The Management staff is often seen walking around the resturants to get to know the customers and to make sure everything is to your liking. If not the will not hesitate to fix it and make it right. They also have new cherry cobbler and its to die for.

Pros: Service, Bar

Cons: wear a jacket it maybe chili

This place leaves much to be desired. After being seated with a business associate, getting our drinks(mine spilled all over the bev nap and table), and a bread basket "tossed" on our table we had to wait about 10 minutes to order. The food was decent but the service never got any better. After having to wait awhile for a check and of course the waitress to run the credit card we were headed back to the office when......the waitress comes out the front door and over to my car. Thinking we had left something behind I rolled down the window only to find her being even more rude then before asking why in the hell she didn't get a tip was something wrong, what was my problem?!?! If she had allowed me to speak I would have told her I picked up the wrong receipt(the one with the tip) but she never slowed down to listen. Being shocked at what was happening we drove away. I called the restuarant the next day and was told I would receive a call from the general manager the next day....that was three days ago!! And to top off my GREAT experience my card was charged twice!!! Now you can see why this is title DON'T BOTHER. This is not a restuarant it is a JOKE!!!! PLEASE SOMEONE SHUT THE DOORS!!!! SAVE US THE HASTLE!!!! Let me close by saying they got 1 star only because you have to choose at least one to submit your review!! = P

Even for a carryout order, they add an 18% gratuity. On previous occasion, friend's credit card was charged twice. I would rather starve than return.

I LOVE Hill City Chop House. We moved to Virginia a little over a year ago and frequently eat out in the Greater Richmond area and have yet to find anywhere as good as this place. Hill City is the first place we have gone that we have talked about or would recommend! The fried seafood is cooked light and golden...pure perfection and the smothered porkchops are the bomb! Last but not least, the ribs are to die for! Also I never refuse the offer for more rolls, they are nice and heavy and full of flavor! We have never had bad service there and love the atmosphere, especially if you can get a booth! This will be the only place we will take family from now on when they visit from "back home".

I had an amazing experence when i went to hill chit chop house. Now it makes me want to go back. Everytime someone asks where I want to eat I say "hill city of course". I had an amazing server, I believe his name was Nate. And the Hostess were so nice to me. One stuck out who was by far nice. Tiffany I believe she said her name was. I ate steak it was cooked to the tempature that i wanted and had no problems. I never had to ask for a refill Nate was always on top of things. That place looks like its alot of fun workin there. Everyone seems to like everyone. You can see it on their faces. So over all it was a very great time I had their. Everytime I ordered and alcoholic drink it was just right. There wasn't too much or not enough alcohol in it. You all should check it out for yourself. I totally enjoyed myself!!!!!

Pros: food was just right..... server was always there for me!!!

Cons: dont really have any!

We have eaten at The Chop House several times, some good, some not as good. We have never had a manager stop by and ask about anything. Today was a not so good day, I ordered the Greek Chicken Salad, it sounded good on the menu-,iceburg and romaine,pepperoncini, grape tomatoes, golden raisins, walnuts, feta cheese, black olives,marinaded chicken...Well it had the lettuce, lots of walnuts and feta and those nasty little California black olives (in a Greek salad!) and the chicken. When I mentioned to the waiter that the peppers and raisins were missing (I forgot about the tomatoes) he said 'They are usually on the bottom' I showed him they weren't there and he offered to bring me some peppers if I wanted them. Again no manager ever showed up, no compensation on the bill and no apology. I feel that when your server knows that what he brought you is not what you ordered, someone should apologize.

Pros: Good, warm bread.

Cons: Lack of attention to detail.

I don't understand the comments made about the restaurant and the service. I eat at the chop house about 3x a month, love the food and always asks for 2 specific servers and 1 is Cheryl. From the 1st time she served me I remember how friendly and professional she was and still serves me with a smile. I advise all my friends and co-workers to go the restuarant. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Seems like someone else had the attitude that night, which is understandable since you just lost a close friend...As far as the food goes...Check out the new menu, they have added an oyster bar ~!!!! critic1234
