Editorial Review for Ruth's Chris Steak House – by Tara de Lis
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.

I have been here before and am always impressed. The service is top notch! The last visit was for my anniversary. Upon entering, we were wished a happy anniversary by every staff member that we encountered. The lobster bisque was good. Then came the steak...I am a picky steak eater, but there's is perfect. The sizzling butter that it is served with make the meat so tasty. The side dishes were savory. Towards the middle of the meal, I began getting sick because of being pregnant. We had to leave early. Our server was so gracious and expressed sincere concern for my condition. He even boxed up a complementary piece of chocolate pie to go home with us. I only get to go here once or twice a year, but on a birthday or anniversary, Ruth's Chris will always be my choice!
Pros: Food and Service
Cons: too pricey to have often

Let me give you a sneak peek into my typical trip to Ruth's Chris: Seating is always prompt, but if you must wait, the plush leather is quite nice. I start out with a Cosmopolitan. My waiter, through some strange parlor trick, remembers us from last time and knows that I want Ketel One. (He also continues to freak me out by remembering my entire order from last time!) Hubby gets a crabmeat cocktail, I like the lobster bisque. We typically either split a house salad or skip it all together. (Who needs lettuce? We're about to get to the good stuff!) I always get the ribeye - hubby gets the fillet. Sides include the creamed spinach and loaded baked potatoes. It's fantabulous!!! We leave.........dessertless and with our takeout bag..........happy beyond words.
Pros: The servers are pros.
Cons: There are absolutely NO cons.
