Awful Nail Technicians & Manager.
My mother and I had the worst manicure experiences at Design One Salon & Spa. My nail tech did not clean my nails, did not trim my cuticles, and did not fully remove my old polish before starting to apply a new color to my nails. As soon as the polish was applied to the first nail, I noticed that the paint was coming out clumpy and I asked the tech to thin it. She did not know what I was asking and had to have another salon worker come over to assist. After thinning the polish, my tech started again with the same clumpy results. I again identified the inadequacy of the job to which she seemed startled. Eventually I suggested I pick another bottle of polish since the one she was using appeared old. After picking a new bottle, my tech started again with the same awful results. Again I identified the sub-par work and she seemed confused, suggesting that she did not see the problem. Finally, after 40 minutes I canceled the appointment and asked to speak to the manager.
My mother's experience wasn't as awful as mine but stil was far below average. She was scheduled with a tech who claimed to be able to freehand a french manicure. When my mother left the salon, her cuticles were ragged, and the lines on her french manicure were crooked. Additionally, the tech used so much paint that an hour later smudges were still marking my mother's nails.
Upon leaving the salon I shared my experience with the manager who refused to comp my manicure--even though I was leaving without ANY new nail polish on my nails and with dirt and remnants of old polish on them. Instead, the manager asked my nail tech what she thought the job was worth and proceeded to charge me that amount.
I will NEVER return to this salon and will warn my friends against having work done there. The nail techs are inexperienced; the nail polish is old; the manager is careless.
