Go elsewhere, I went there for the first time being from an outlying county where we just have WalMart. I've occasionally been to JoAnnes. After being in there about an hour and a half, with no carts or baskets available, I had jotted down quite a few potential patterns, books, fabric blenders, and rulers that I wanted. I looked at a pattern (horrors) to see if I had it at home. Before I could determine this, I had it ripped from my hands as 'copyright infringement'. I tried to draw a picture of what I had at home and the lady was not interested. I asked about several other patterns and their availability. After awhile, I was told that I "had been in there a long time" and was "making them nervous". What??? I'm nearly 60 and I told them I'd never been in a full-fledged quilting store before and they had a neat assortment of things that I wanted to look at. I was currently looking at the rulers!! I was not wearing a trenchcoat with huge pockets nor a huge pocketbook and was nicely dressed. I had a long list of items that I had jotted down as wanting but wanted to see if they might have a book that had a similar pattern (would rather spend $20 for a book than $9 for a single pattern). While standing by the rulers (again, what can one do that's untoward with a quilting ruler?) I was asked to leave the store. A totally wasted afternoon, and they missed out on at least $100 bucks on purchases - it's my eyecandy - and I was going to ask about taking classes there. I'll take my list of items to mail order now and go make Clotilde rich. I've never ever had worse treatment from an establishment, even when I was a loud teenager. They have lots of people on the floor and security cameras; I cannot fathom what would make a small shop act like this. Can't wait to tell my quilting guild about this.
