This was a terrible experience. I
didn't complain much because after reading other online reviews.. I should've heeded the warning. Everything they "taught" I learned for free on YouTube. No teaching how to blend... No focus on FACE makeup and ensuring your client doesn't look ashy and their brows aren't crooked. Seriously, I regret this. I knew more from reading makeup books and watching tutorials. No instruction about primers, different foundations, what's best on what skin type... Nothing. I learned nothing. I have been warning all the aspiring artists I know in the area. The kit they sent was CRAP! They could've at least given drugstore quality shadows, they wouldn't even show up!!! I tried high end primers with them and nothing! So I used my personal makeup kit to turn in all my assignments. No decent products at all!
The tests were a joke, poor grammar usage and repeat questions etc. Please heed this warning, there are much better schools in the area. Don't fall for this low-budget crap!
I just had to comment, I found this school online last year and I decided to use my MYCAA to take online Bridal Makeup Stylist program. My husband and I just PCS'd to Texas and I was worried that I would not be able to pursue my passion as a professional makeup artist. Makeup Artist Studio made it happen for me. I have been so pleased with my classes online, the kit is unbelievable and I have already referred to other friends to the program. We are hoping to partner up and open our own day spa. This has been a great experience for me, hoping for advance classes to be offered soon! Thanks
Best Makeup Artist School in Virginia. Had a great experience, finished Makeup Masters and interned on a Walmart commercial! I love everything about makeup and so glad that I finally pursued my career dream. Was attending cosmetology school and they told me I would learn makeup skills, NOT TRUE, so I decided to enroll 6 weeks ago into Makeup Artist Studio, was the best decision ever! Makeup Everyday! NO FEET, NO HAIR CUTTING! just MAKEUP all day long! Loved it, so excited to start my new job at Lancome! Thanks Makeup Artist Studio!
Great School, Great Experience. Just graduated from Bridal Makeup Stylist at Makeup Artist Studio in Richmond two weeks ago and had a blast! It was a great first experience. The course was very informative and I had the opportunity to apply eyelash extensions to my first paying client yesterday! I'm excited to get my freelance business up and running. I was referred to the school by MAC at Stony Point in Richmond and have to say that I enjoyed every minute, thanks MAC! down side, too short, didnt want class to end. I got a huge makeup kit loaded with products, a full size airbrush kit and my eyelash kit. Yep Im ready world, so look out for ONina Artistry coming your way soon, thanks Michelle and thanks Jessica!
~ Save your money~.
TIn my opinion this "school" is great on the sales pitch, but overpriced and after the fees are all paid - under delivers. Poor communication, low quality materials, no quality instruction, and not open to valid complaints about their practices. Valid complaints will only be met with long emails ending in a threat of legal action - a clear red flag when the FIRST response to a student complaint is to contact a lawyer.
I suggest finding a quality school with good, consistent reviews by actual students or risk wasting time and money on something you may only regret. Just because it is convenient doesn't mean it is worthwhile.
If you do fall victim to a scam, contact your bank or credit company ( never pay cash) , and be sure to post honest reviews to help others who may be at risk of making a bad choice.
