I have experience working in tanning salons as well as the knowledge and schooling of the necessary skin care needed when indoor tanning. My experience with South Beach Tan & Body is not only great, but I am a faithful tanner here now as well. Yes, it is privately owned, so dealing with the coorporate rules and issues is no problem here! My comment and response to the other reviewers on here that speak of the rudeness they've encountered with the owner is in my opinion wrong. When she gives her recommendation and advice on what lotions to use and what would be a good time length for your day time tanning, it's her knowledge and experience that allows her to give the advice that she gives; not just because she is the "owner" of the now 6 year running salon, but because she cares about the individual tanners experience at her salon.

I've been to several different tanning salons in the Richmond area, and I can say from first hand experience that I have not been in a more clean, and sanatized salon than South Beach Tan & Body. I love all of the staff and have developed and friendly relationship with everyone that works there. I would not recommend any other salon to tan at. Not only do you get great color and product, as well as customer service, but also the development of a client/employee friendship.

South Beach Tanning. South Beach Tanning is a great place to tan. I've been going there for years and have never ever had a problem there. The lady who works the front desk is always friendly, personable and professional. There is usually a wait at the beginning of tanning season, which you can expect almost anywhere. They have customer appreciation parties and go out of their way to make their customers feel appreciated, unlike the "chain" tanning salons where you feel like you're a piece of property in a factory where you go from one step to the other. The facility is very convenient, it's always super clean and the employees are very friendly. I'd recommend this tanning salon to anyone.

South Beach Tanning Salon is No Good!. I've been in there a few times now and each time I go the older lady who sits at the front is rude! I decided to give it another chance again today; however I ended up leaving before I even tanned! She acted like my eyewear was not good enough. I pulled out the sticker eyewear that you use for one time only. She marked all over them and said be sure to only use these once (with an attitude)! She told me the wait was only going to be 6 minutes. However, 15 minutes go by, and I’m still waiting. I asked to get my eyewear back, but she had lost them! How convenient!

Anyway, this place is awful... there is always a wait, and they never treat their customers as they should! There is a tanning salon right down the road on the corner of Staples Mill and Hungry Rd (not sure the name) that gives much better customer service, and the beds are just as good for a lower price!
