They must not need new customers in this economy.
I guess that they are doing so well in this economy that they do not want any new customers. The restaurant inside is lovely, the owner who greeted us at the door was very friendly, the menu (that I viewed online) was good and reasonable for upscale Italian food. It was our waiter that ruined our lunch. Interestingly on other review sites, I've read that the waiter was also the problem. Is he related to the owner and they can't fire him? We called to state that our party of six would be late. The owner let us know that they would need to take our orders quickly (great, we were starving) but that we could enjoy a leisurely lunch. Our waiter greeted us with "Listen, we are closing soon and you need to give me your orders within the next 5 minutes because we are closing,m do you understand?" We said, "wow - does that mean we'll have to order and finish eating in the next 35 minutes?", and he said "yes, we have to get ready for the dinner crowd so I need your orders now did you understand what I said? You need to hurry". Yup, I had clients with me, so this was pretty bad when I noticed that two of my guests (both nurses) had their mouths agape shaking their heads at the attitude and content of the waiter's greeting. We kindly got up, apologized (yes WE apologized) and went next door to Shaklefords who seemed delighted to see us at 1:10pm and gave us prompt, courteous service. When I called later that evening at 8:05pm, to alert the owner to the lunch situtation, I was told "he is too busy to come to the phone - you call back later - "click".
I called this morning and talked to the owner. He acted surprised, eventually apologized, but offered nothing more. Good to know there's a restaurant in Richmond that doesn't need new weekday lunch customers.
Consitently wonderful!. One of our favorite spots for wonderful, authentic Italian food.
Wonderful little gem right in the neighborhood!. Fantastic restaurant you would miss if you blinked walking by. Perfect romantic date-night destination. Great food with beautiful presentation. The owners and staff are warm and inviting. They remember their customers and are gracious hosts.
