Dude has some serious personal issues.
I went in there for a simple inspection. He rejected my truck for brake light and a 1/2 inch tear on the end of my windshield wiper. I agreed with the brake light but stated that I thought the windshield wiper thing was BS. It still worked fine and did not impair my vision. But, rather than saying something like "it is BS but it's the law" he went off accusing me of giving him a bunch of crap and kicked me out of his shop.
This guy needs to work on his anger problems. It just cost him one more customer.
New to Powhatan. As a women I am always skeptical of auto Repair Centers, However on a suggestion from a friend I took my car to Bobby Oakley Automotive in Powhatan Va last week and was absolutely floored by the professional service i received. Ladies this is a legitimate business that is both honest and will not treat you like a dumb female. I was treated with respect and dignity, and to top it off they were honest and did my work in a timely manner. I am so glad to know there is still honer in this type of trade. MY hats off to Bobby Oakley, Good Job
Outstanding Customer Service. Outstanding customer service is what I have just received from both Bobby Oakley and his staff. I was told exactly what was needed to repair my wifes vehicle and the cost associated with same. While I was waiting Bobby bought lunch for his staff and invited me to join. I was in awe when they all bowed their heads and prayed before eating. Powhatan is lucky to have this caliber of service center to rely on. I will always bring my families vehicles to bobby Oakley Auto as well as my friends.
POOR SERVICE 200-300% MARK UPS ON PARTS USED!!. If you like paying 200-300% mark up on all parts used at Bobbys and having to "refix" things that he repaired I highly recommend this automotive shop
Fast Service & Fair Prices. I purchased a 95 Nissan 240SX from a friend of mine, knowing that car needed some work. I immediately called Bobby Oakley's shop and talk to Bobby himself on the phone. I told him the first thing I needed was to get the car towed into his shop. Bobby told me how much the tow would be and said that he would look under the hood and see what exactly it needed. He told me the the main priority would be to get a new battery into the car and to replace some filters and do a few flushes (since the car was sitting for so long). I agreed to all the repairs and had my car on the road the very next day. Bobby's good attitude and fa nominal work will keep me coming back to his shop for any repairs I will need in the future.
Best in Powhatan. Bobby has been working on my vehichles since moving to powhatan 5 years ago i came to him because i was at my witts end going from shop to shop and no one could tell me what was wrong but they could charge me for looking at it everytime i even took it to the dealer and no help. Bobby figured it out and i have had no trouble with it since. We even had a situation with one of my cars where his mechanic did not tighten a bolt and he towed it in and loaned me a car and when it was done he delivered it back to me. I understand that things happen but not only is he top notch at repairing my vehichles but he more than stands behind ALL the work he does. He is the best in Powhatan as far as I am concerned.
to First and Last Time experience. First off you need to state all the facts. The vehicle was in fact towed in for overheating we found the impeller bad on the water pump. We replaced the water pump and timing belt per your request and with a verbal est. which it took 3 days for you to return my call for me to explain the problem and get an approval, we repaired the vehicle then on the test drive the car started to run hot so it came back to the shop we block tested it and found it had a bad head gasket. Again you were called and it took 2 days this time for you to call back to inform you of this problem that you had created by driving the car and overheating it and the estimate was for 1600 not 1400 plus the cost of the part's from the first part of the job which was 300.00 and to completely recondition the head it was 275.00 in machine shop fee's and I waived all previous labor on the original job and told you I would just charge you for this fix because it is a big job and as always I was trying to help you as much as possible. The aftermarket intake that you said that I told you I would install for 100.00 which in fact I told you it would be time and material but a minimum of 100.00 for the INTAKE you never mentioned a throttle body and fuel rail that you also brought with you. This intake turned out to be the cheapest and poorly assembled part I have ever tried to install. We worked on this intake for over 6 hour’s trying to fit it and I only charged you for 2.5 hours of labor. Once we got the intake to work on the car it was warped along the mating surface of the head and throttle body from poor workmanship when the intake was assembled that we had to remove the intake and send it to the machine shop to have it trued up the machine shop charged a more than fair price of 105.00 because i told him the situation so he did you a favor. When we got the intake manifold back on the car and the intake and throttle body were sealed then came the task to making the fuel rail seal. I had to get 5 different sets of injector seals (which you only were charged for 1 complete set) to finally get a set that would not leak fuel. Altogether the second pulling of the intake we spent another 6.5 hours and only charged for 3.9 hours which the book calls for3.5 to replace a stock manifold. So yes I did do you a big favor and went far beyond any compensation to make sure your car turned out running smooth. As for the final bill it was far less than it should have been and was less than I told you it would be. You were told how much everything was before each phase was done and you approved the work. When you called me about the oil leak I told you to bring it in and when you did we fixed it that same day in fact you dropped it off but we had it fixed within 2 hours of you dropping it off you know that to be a fact because I called you and told you it was fixed and just for the record the oil leak was very small and in no way could it have left a 2ft puddle under the car. Everything in this letter is exactly the same thing I told you and you did not like it and it was you that got confrontational. So you can say what you want to and twist and leave out the facts all you want but here's one fact.......You and I both know the truth!!!!!! And above all "God" knows!!!!! First and last time experience. First and last time I will ever patronize Bob Oakley Automotive. Had my car towed in for overheating. I thought it was the water pump and it was. When we started out the estimate was 400 dollars. Then it went to 1400.00 to do a head gasket, valve job, rings and rod bearings. Said he would install an aftermarket intake manifold and throttle body I supplied for about another hundred bucks. When I finally got the car back over 4 weeks later the final bill was 2900 dollars. When I questioned him about some of the charges he became confrontational and told me he had done me a favor and how fair he had been. This guy has a BS answer for everything and he does not make mistakes just ask him. He took a very unprofessional approach in dealing with me. I could not even talk to him. And to top it all off, got the car home and put it in the garage to find a 2 foot puddle of oil that had leaked from the oil pan the next morning. Heads up to anyone looking for a good mechanic, find another shop.
