Standout Thai. This is my favorite of all the Thai places in Carytown. The Tom Yum soup is amazing, as is the Musamun curry and Pad See Eew. The place is small and can fill up quickly, but it does have a patio that doubles its seating capacity when the weather permits. The staff is attentive and friendly, and if you call in for takeout its ready in about 10 minutes, no matter how busy the restaurant is. For the prices, I'd be happy if the portions were a little larger. I know people who prefer Mom's Siam and Thai Diner Too, but after eating at Ginger the food at those places seemed somewhat bland in comparison.
Great Thai, good portions, and a good place for people watching.
My wife and I go to Ginger Thai whenever we need a good Thai fix. The portions are generous and the food tastes exactly as it should. I always get Drunken Noodles, and I use that to judge any Thai restaurant, and Ginger passes the test. My wife says the Tom Yum soup is the best she's had in the Richmond area.
It is a pretty small restaurant, and can fill up. My wife and I enjoy the window seats, they are great for people watching. There is also a limited amount of outdoor seating.
If you like Thai food, you will like Ginger. If you've never tried Thai food, try it at Ginger!
