Garbage.
I work in the bottom so I have had the misfortune of people from work wanting to go here.
I am a fish taco fan. Love 'em. First, the 3-4 times(I like to give a place plenty of chances before writing them off) I have gotten this dish there the recipe was radically different. They didn't change the menu, different cooks just do whatever with whatever order they get. My friends have the same experience with other dishes, the recipe, ingredients and sides are never the same from day to day.
Second... Its always cold. Literally, my food is always cold. Not luke-warm, COLD.
Third... Twice I spent the afternoon after eating here in the bathroom. Once, OK it was an off day for me. TWICE, they poisoned me.
Pleasantly surprised!!. It had been a year or longer since I had made my way back to Cha Cha's for lunch. I was expecting the same experience as long ago, with poor service and food that didn't satisfy my taco craving. Apparently they've been working hard on these little details (and BIG ones!) and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was new, with burgers that left your mouth watering. I took a chance, and it was well worth it! Since then I've been back to try the tacos again and once again, I left full and happy. Service was much better, the ambience greatly improved, and an overall warmth in the restaurant. I highly recommend you give Cha Cha's another shot :) I'm glad I did!
Worst place in Shockoe Slip. I hate to see waitresses assume tips. When I called one out on this she threw the change back directly in my face. I had to contact the BBB because the owner would not respond to my calls for 10 days. This establishment is an atrocity and an affront to the restaurant industry.
Steer clear of this one!. Stay away. I don't even know what else to say. My fiance and I went out to eat this past weekend and while walking around. trying to decide where to get some food, we happened across chachas. We decided to grab a bite to eat there. Luck was NOT on our side. Our waitress was rude, inconsiderate, and in general, not very pleasant. I am not very familiar with Mexican (or in this case, imitation Mexican) cuisine. She let me know by her tone of voice, and her attitude, that she thought I was stupid. She asked if I had any questions, and when I did in fact have a question, she answered me like I was 6 years old. To top it all off, after we ordered, my fiance went to the men's room and heard the waitress making fun of me to someone in the kitchen. I'm not an advocate of making a scene, but had he told me what our waitress was saying, I woulda made a spectacle out of it all. My fiance and I wil l nevervisit this semi-establishment again.
Dirty. If your looking for a place to go and your I don't know....20 it's great...over 35ish and your out of place! Not the best food, terrible ambience, etc.....good thought but just doesn't quite cut it.
So-so Mexican in a good location. We went on a week night and sat on the patio. The patio was nice, the restaurant was quiet and we had excellent service. The cocktails were so-so. The menu was reasonably priced but limited and didn't have many Mexican options (mainly tex mex I suppose). When we got our meals my burrito was cold. I sent it back and nicely asked if they could heat it up. I was given a brand new meal, also stone cold. So I didn't get to eat. My companions enjoyed their meals but they seemed pretty plain. The waitress was very apologetic and took the burrito of the bill without me asking. I would probably try this place again, but wouldn't expect much from the food.
Sorry excuse for a Mexican restaurant. I have been to this restaurant on numerous occassions (don't ask why I kept going back), and it has gotten worse every time. Initially I was very excited to discover that a Mexican place was open downtown, since it's where I work. The only other Mexican around is Cafe Ole. This restaurant is neither authentic, nor good. The food is so average and tasteless that it is a waste of your time. Go to Cafe Ole instead (rocking burritos, although technically not authentic Mexican). No more Cha Cha's for me!
