don't trust them with your card for long. This place USUALLY will hand you your card back when you set a tab. Not knowing this, I set my tab with the bartender, and thought nothing of it when he never came back with my card. Got my beer, drank it, decided to leave, and viola! Instantly, My debit card had somehow vanished.

So my friend paid my tab, we left. I then cancelled my card. I check my bank account, seems they had my card long enough to swipe it, pay for a beer that was already paid for AND tip themselves on it. Just a disclosure on my part: It was my first beer of the evening, so its not like i got drunk and lost it. They just got too busy and probably gave it away to someone else. Its understandable, but also a real HUGE inconvenience, especially when the bartender is being less than nice about it.

New managent is a dissapointment. I have been to empire many times and it's been fine, but recently they changed management and it's not the same dive bar it used to be. We went on a Sunday which is usually $1.50 burger night but not anymore. Now everything costs around $7-$12 and they got rid of a lot of their amazing deals. They still do taco night, but if you like the hard shell you'll be disappointed. They are now soft shell, but they still charge 50 cents for sour cream or salsa. When we went on Sunday we decided to give them a chance and order from their new menu. My boyfriend wanted a Ruben, but they had no pork products. My friend wanted a chicken salad croissant but they were out of croissants. It was a nightmare trying to order from there limited menu. When we got our food, it was decent, but it was the exact same food you can get at the Village, Mojo's, or 821. They used to be the place to be because their food was such a good deal, but now it's just the same food you can get anywhere.

gotta love that richmond charm. i love this place, i have a great time everytime i go! everything i have had off the menu has been wonderful and the bar crowd is covered in tattoos and some of the most friendly people i have ever met. burgers are excelent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
