It was a good excuse to dress up, eat at a "fancy" restaurant that wasn't a chain, and enjoy a dining experience that wasn't typical for any of us. What a pleasant surprise! Unique menu items. I recommend the voodoo shrimp appetizer. Anyway, the four of us get together every year for Pescados now. We wait all year for it. The meal never disappoints. We always leave with a smile on our face and wishing we could afford to eat there more often. But then again, maybe that adds to why it's so special to us. Bottom line - no good reasons to not go.
Terrible food, filthy restaurant.
Filthy. They need a real cleaning service - dust and grease and scummy carpet and gross bathrooms. Yuk!
Poor quality food - oversalted, undercooked, greasy.
Spent $75 and went home hungry because no one ate their food.
My Favorite Restaurant.
several times we have taken non adventurous eaters here. The results are always the same. They are nervous when reading the detailed menu, not sure of all the ingredients listed in an entree's description. We encourage them to not get overwhelmed and trust that their selection will be good, even if they haven't heard of a spice or item in their food. When their food arrives, they are suspicious...until they try it.
The chef always sources the freshest ingredients. Food combinations are harmonious but unexpected. Pescados prides itself on making special adjustments to accomodate diner's individual dietary needs, and is flexible if you need to have a change made in your food preparation. The decor is a bit shabby, but this adds to its charm. It is a local joint-with world class food. Try cheap date night on Thursdays. House wine is $4, and receive a free (chef's choice) dessert to share. Cost is a bit high, but there is no fake food here. Be sure to try Pescados before hitting the movies at the Carmike.
Seafood with a flair.
I have been many times and bring friends and family when they are visiting - have never had a bad meal!
The dishes are served with a latin flair and the chef will adjust almost anything on the menu if you ask. The saffron potato cakes are to die for and the scallops, my favorite, have always been cooked just right. The also have great nightly specials on fresh catches and always use fresh seafood.
