I love the Samurai Roll, it is one of
my favorites! Kobe's Sushi is always fresh, and the presentation a work of art!
Their hibachi meals are always supreme, with a good selection of combinations!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
My FAVORITE sushi place in Richmond! Fish has been fresh every time, service is good, atmosphere is cool, and its not expensive!
Even without the gift certificate I will DEFINITELY be back!
Went there with a friend who's been raving about it for months, and I must say it did not disappoint. We had the hibachi for dinner... splitting a shrimp and a chicken entree. Delicious. Had a sushi roll upstairs with our sake, also delicious. Had a wasabi mary after dinner, and it was amazing. Wow, I really liked this place, can't wait til I'm back in Richmond so I can go again!
Love Kobe, some of the best rolls in
town. We eat lunch at Kobe at least twice a week.
Service is sometimes slow but worth the wait.
Kobe Japanese Steak and Sushi is a
great restaurant. It's located in the Shockoe Bottom area, where the night-life is booming. The Kobe restaurant is split into upper and lower levels -- upper level serve sushi and traditional japanese cuisine along with a bar, whereas lower level serve hibachi cuisine. Their sushi is prepared by a skilled Japanese Sushi chef and the quality and detail of their sushi entrees are top-etched. The traditional menu just has been revamped and it is simply amazing. If you have yet to try Japanese fusion cuisine, Kobe is the place to go. I recommend the Filet Minion with Truffle sauce. The downstairs offer a wide menu where the food is cooked and served on a hibachi grill. I must admit the hibachi is not the BEST I have had ( I am a hibachi chef ), customers won't regret anything. The hibachi chefs at Kobe are one of the finest in the Richmond area and their entertainment will keep you amused throughout the night.
The prices are a bit higer than usual restaurants (Ex. Avg. course: including sushi appetizer, a Small glass of a Ozeki sake, and Hibachi Chicken -- $35.) Keep in mind that the hibachi dinner comes with a soup, salad, and 2 shrimp appetizers and the amount of food you get is very hard to finish.
There is a bar upstairs which offer a wide array of mixed drinks, authentic sake, wine, and other spirits.
I have been here for happy hours and dinner! The atmosphere is great, and the sushi is awesome! Hibachi was fun and food was good. Def will be back!
Delicious ! Very good sushi roll menu with very accurate picture. Large selection of sushi for any kind of taste.... We arrived at 2:04 and the restaurant was closing at 2, they accepted us and we had a wondergul lunch. If we come back to Richemond, we will definately come back
Children at the bar????.

So, I took my 13 yrs daughter and my 9 yrs son and boyfriend to Kobe for a early Mother's Day diner.
When we get to the hostesses, they how many, I told them four, that the last person has not arrived yet and would be here shortly.
I requested to be seated downstairs, where all the action is.
They said they couldnt seat us until our entire party was here. I asked then could we have a seat at a table while we wait, and she told me, and I quote, "you can have a seat at the bar". I looked at her like she had lost her fricken mind.
And so, my kids and I waited in front of the door for 15 minutes, while the two hostesses talked about how difficult I was being for not sitting at the bar with my children.
Maybe the Kobe manager should know what type of employees he's got upstairs, cause the one's downstairs are wonderful!

midlothian area, and kobe beats them all!!!!
LOVE IT!!!
Overpriced for average sushi and below average service. I frequent a few sushi restaurants, and Kobe has happened to be one of them. Going there, the atmosphere was great and I was expecting food of the same level. However, after ordering the food, it was not that great. Maybe being used to DC, they do a little different down here. If so, I still prefer Hana Zushi which is across the street, or another restaurant in the fan.
