Bad experience – I typically go to the Charlottesville Bubbles Salon and have always been happy with my cuts there. But since I was in the area for the day I figured I'd try out the Bubbles in Short Pump.
Never again. I told them I wanted about an inch off the length and to cut the layers to match. Essentially move the cut I had up an inch. I ended up leaving with a few inches off, horrible layers, and a awful blow out. I put my hair in a pony tail immediately after leaving and didn't see the full damage until I came home and straightened my hair. The hairdresser missed several pieces of hair that I went back and trimmed myself, the layers are HORRIBLE. The bottom layer is way too thin and the bulk of my hair is all cut at the top layer (and since I have thick hair, it looks ridiculous and poofy), and the layers around my face are more like chunks. I figured at the time, she was cutting the layers to frame my face, but it looks like she literally she took the front section of my hair and cut a chunk out of it (well, that is essentially what she did). So the front portion of my haircut is really short, and the back is much longer. It looks awkward. And to top it off, I got charged $10 more than usual for the "long hair fee" which I've never gotten in any other salon (including the Bubbles in Charlottesville) despite having the same length hair for years.
I called to complain and got offered to have them "blend" so it'll look better as it grows out. But I don't leave anywhere near Richmond and definitely wouldn't make the trip out there just to go back to the same salon that gave me this awful cut just in an attempt to fix their mistake. I'd much rather have money off so I can go to my usual salon to get it fixed on my own terms. Until then, my hair will be staying in a pony tail to hide my mess of a cut.
Bad Highlight experience – I had a partial highlight done and this was my second time with this stylist. She did the excellent job last time. Last time she cut my hair and did the highlight but this time she did the highlight and cut the hair. The highlight was not done on the bottom. I have a black hair and my highlight is a very light color. Since the bottom part of my hair wasn't highlighted, it looked really funny. I went back and had it fixed but they told me that the partial highlight is just for the top part of the hair and I was charged for another partial highlight fee.
Well, it is my last time to visit this salon.
Also the hair cut was done uneven.

Always a good experiance! – I love this place! very clean salon with very nice people. Ashley Butler is my stylist and she is amazing! She really listens to what you want and gives good input. You can tell that she truly loves what she does and wants to make you feel beautiful. Also Lara(another stylist) did my up do for a formal event and it was gorgeous. Great experiences so far!
Awesome precision cut and gorgeous color by Jen at Bubbles! – This was my first visit to Bubbles. My sister goes to the Bubbles salon in Charlottesville, and her stylist recommended Jen. I was in between stylists and needed someone I could try to fix a big ol' mess someone at Ahead of Hair in Midlothian created (a week after my appt., I noticed "hot roots", grey showing through and an uneven cut. Not cool). Jen really came through for me. She fixed the color issues (I came in feeling like "Rainbow Brite" and left feeling "tres chic!") and gave me a terrific cut (amazing, considering when she first picked up the scissors, she could see what the last stylist did.). I go back in five weeks, and can hardly wait. Thanks, Jen. You rock!
no clue.. – I went to Bubbles back in the summer. I have very long hair and I just wanted a trim. I left with about 3 inches off, un-even layers, and a horrible chunk in the front missing..I will never go again..I do not remember the woman's name but she had no idea what she was doing.
I am very satisfied. – So this was my first time to a salon for hair color. Yep I was a hair color virgin. I had Ashley Butler and she did a wonderful job. We sat down for a consultation and picked the best color for me and it came out beautifully. She also cut my hair into a layered bob and I couldn't love it more. I have been running my fingers through my hair all day! The only complaint I have....well its more of my husbands complaint...is the cost. I spent $128 including tip and a bottle of product. I expected it to be $100 or more, my husband was thinking more around $70 but I think for color, cut, blow-dry and style it was well worth. I will definitely be returning to see my new stylist, Ashley.
Horrible!!!!! – I'm sure it's not the salon, i just happened to get a horrible stylist who clearly didn't know how to do any other cut other than the basic 'long hair, all one length, straight across style'!! I specifically told her that i was trying to let my hair grow. It WAS a little past my jawline and slightly stacked in the back. I told her NOT to cut the back up.. i am trying to let it grow one length so just shape up the bottom where it was long and flipping out. I ended up w/ a cut up to my jawline and STACKED in back! Horrible! And to add fuel to the fire..it's uneven. I couldn't convince her that it was and she seemed to just cut it just to appease me.. which made me nervous and in the end i just agreed that it was fine and even.. i just wanted her to stop cutting and get out of there! I hate it! I don't know how to spell her name but it's pronounced LATTE! She must be the new girl.. i'm not sure .. but she needs to go back to school!!!!!
WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE – I also had my appointment with Miriam and I couldn't disagree more with the previous comment. She showed up late, completely disheveled...I had the immediate gut feeling to leave, but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. We sat down to discuss color and after insulting how "yellow" my hair was we decided on what I thought were going to be subtle highlights. After taking almost an hour to put the foils in my hair, I sat and waited for the color to deposit. She took me over to the sink to rinse me... after seeing the results; she decided she was going to a "free conditioning treatment". In hindsight, I realize she was trying to cover up her horrible mistake. She then put me under the dryer and left me for over 30 minutes. Please remember this is two hours into my appointment and I'm yet to see my hair. She then rinsed me again and took me back to her chair. I immediately burst into tears when I saw it. Greenish dark gray. No blonde. No lowlights. GREENISH GRAY! I then requested to speak to the manager and she reassured me that she could fix it. Miriam would cut my hair and then the color would be fixed...this is when it got ugly. In one fell swoop, my beloved swing bob was chunked into soccer mom bangs. Was this really happening? I had brought a picture!! I stopped her at that point and basically sobbed through the rest of her "fixing" attempts. My color was somewhat corrected, but in the process, my hair damaged. She was then ?generous? enough to give me a student discount....gee thanks, I'm a senior nursing student with my first interview in ONE WEEK, I look like hell and I get 20% off. If I had not been so distraught, I would have refused to pay, but at that point, FOUR HOURS after I had walked in the door, I just wanted to go home. I woke up this morning after crying myself to sleep and the haircut is worse than I thought...I am now waiting for the manager to call so I can get my damn money back.
Walk-ins Welcome! – I came in with a haircut that another salon totally messed up. Miriam was great and listened to exactly what I wanted. She asked questions and really made an effort to figure out exactly what I was going for. She was very professional and gave me exactly what I wanted. I absolutely recommend this salon!
