Inconsistent / incompetent customer service.
I used to be a fan of this place, but no longer! I spoke to them on the phone, and they said bring in my Mac, that they would plug it into another monitor and see if they could reproduce the problem I was having with it.
The clerk listened to my description and replied: "That will be $50 and you can call us in 3 days to see if we've repaired it yet." I was shocked -- 3 days to plug it into one of their many monitors to see if there even was anything wrong? I use my Mac for my business -- not that he cared. Incredible!
He took the Mac back to his boss who I could hear ranting in the back room. Without another word as to what was happening, the clerk left me waiting at the counter for another 20 minutes.
When he came back, he apologized that he had answered a phone call (oh, great customer service). He then said he's plugged it in and sure enough it was slow to boot up (which was not my problem by the way). I thanked him and left. I felt like about all the guy would have offered in advice would have been; "Don't let the door hit you on your way out!"
I drove to the Apple Store, my only other option, fully expecting to buy a new Mac. Anyway, the place was buzzing, with at least 50 other customers -- and it seemed at least 20 people on the floor to help. Immediately, a nice woman and her supervisor suggested I get in the queue for the Genius Bar, that was only a 20-minute wait (less time than I'd wasted at Mac Pro). In the meantime, they were very knowledgeable, and discussed my options with me.
A smart young woman at the Genius Bar then listened carefully, and immediately plugged my Mac into their monitor. Surprise! No problem. Even after multiple attempts, nothing was wrong. We determined it had probably been my monitor, not my Mac that needed replacing!
All I can surmise is that the clerk at Mac Pro had either lied to me -- he hadn't plugged it in at all -- or worse, he had no clue what he was doing, or understanding of what I had told him.
Oh, and the Apple tech lady threw in a diagnostic and resetting of my 4-year-old Mac FOR FREE! Now that IS customer service!
So I paid nothing for the help at the Apple Store, and they did not pressure me into buying anything -- just advised me. In fact they refreshed my computer for no charge. What a concept in this economy -- serving customers! The Apple Store has made me a loyal customer.
Apple has figured it out. Mac Pro hasn't!
Great job!.
I had a cracked screen on my Macbook. The Apple store said I should go to Mac Pro as they were less expensive than the Apple store. Mac Pro fixed my laptop and did a great job. They were very easy to work with and predicted the date I could pick up the machine exactly. They also gave me some advise on a new machine and I bought an iMac from them. They transferred by information for free to the new computer so now I have a laptop and a desktop computer!
I liked every part of both of these transactions. I felt like they were more interested in me than at the mall.
Terrific Save. I had a horrible experience at Capitolmac where they didn't fix my machine even after my waiting too long for it. The Apple store sent me to Macpro and they fixed my machine without charging me.
Great Service. I had my Mac Pro repaired here. They replaced the hard drive, moved my data from the old one over and did the job in three days. I had a problem with capitalmac when I tried to get them to do the same thing. Macpro was responsive and I trust them for any future work.
Save yourself the time, pain and frustration. I had heard horror stories about this place accidentally selling people's computers that were in for repair, but Apple's website recommended them as a Apple retailer, so to save myself the wait and appointments at the Apple Store, I decided to buy a new Macbook from them. Unfortunately, after making a deposit, on a machine that wasn't in stock... they had to order it. Much to my disappointment, they never called me to tell me when to expect it in... so after calling them to find out the ETA, they told me they had no record of me even placing the order! So after much frustration, I was able to get my deposit back after about 3 weeks waiting for a machine that was never ordered. I called Apple to complain and they recommended another Apple retailer called Capital Mac. I didnt want to go to another shop like Mac Pro, but I called them anyway. The lady there said they had the Macbook I wanted in stock and they would transfer all my data from my old PC for free. I came in to the store, and the lady transferred my data in two hours while I ate lunch and walked out with a computer I had been wanting for over 3 weeks... Save yourself the trouble and just go to Capital Mac (downtown) or the Apple Store (west).
Really good service. Had my macbook fixed and they were great. I had been to capitol mac and had a bad experience but macpro restored my confidence in Apple.
Couldn't be better. I took my Macbook with a cracked screen in Wed. They replaced it and returned it too me on Mon. Great service and friendly guys. The price was $200 less than the Apple Store. I highly recommend them.
Don't torture yourself by giving them your computer.
I brought my macbook pro into their Charlottesville location with a cracked screen, and I was informed it would only take 3 or 4 days to get it repaired and have it back in Charlottesville (they send it to Richmond). 4 and a half weeks later, I finally got it back.
Part of my frustration was not their fault because the screen was back-ordered, but every time I called (it felt like every day) they said it would only be 3 or 4 more days. Apparently those are the magic numbers for them. For the entire month they had my computer, I only received one phone call from them. I even had to call to get them to order the screen in the first place.
Don't make the mistake I did, take your computer somewhere else.
Wonderful Service. I ordered a Macbook Pro from these guys and they transferred the data for free. I have used them for repairs also and they have always done a great job.
Mac Pro Solutions sold me a lemon.
I would bet serious money that all the 5 star reviews here are fake. Notice how most of them dog the competitor, Capitol Mac.
Don't use these folks. I took my computer in to them for repairs. Ended up needing a new computer. A week later, I pick up the used computer they sold me over the phone. Sounded great, but they didn't tell me the screen was damaged, didn't tell me it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, and didn't make the RAM upgrade I paid for. They were rude and dismissive about it when I complained. But I eventually got a refund. Never doing business with these clowns again. Do yourself a favor, and find another Mac shop.
