Our Weekend Getaway.
My husband and I love to go here for a nice quiet evening without our 5 month old. We started coming here over 2 years ago and have not been able to be pleased with sushi anywhere else since. The waitress Angela is the best! They are friendly and have the BEST sushi in Richmond! If you have not been here make sure to try their Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna, and Philedelphia rolls! We get them everytime and they are to die for!

Great value, great food, & great atmosphere..
I am very surprised to see the last review on this restaurant. This is the only Sushi restaurant my husband and I will eat at. They have the best recorded with the restaurant inspections and when you eat raw fish, nothing is more important then checking out their inspection record. The service is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, and we have never eaten at Ichiban and not liked what we ordered. I think it may just be a matter of personal taste. We have never had eel that did not have a sweet taste to it. I think one must try it for themselves.

Mediocre at best. Waste of time and money at worst..
Meal started off great. Miso soup was very good. Enjoyed the salad and dressing as well. Really appreciated that they had the dressing on the side. Member of party had some allergy concerns and they were very attentive to that. Definite plus for the service. The salmon skin handroll was chewy. Flavor was OK. I prefer crispy salmon skin with just a little meat attached. These pieces were mostly meat without the crunchy skin. If you prefer meatier Salmon skin hand rolls, then it may be perfect for you. Richmond roll (shrimp tempura and cucumber inside topped with eel and caviar) was middle of the road. Eel was more fishy than I'm used to and it was soaked in a fairly sweet sauce that I thought detracted from the ingredients. Again, if you like the sweeter sauces, you may like this roll as well.
The biggest disappointment was the hibachi chicken my wife ordered. Never had carrot chunks and broccoli in hibachi before. Rice was a little peppery and not very good. Didn't clump together. Didn't offer either of the traditional sauces one gets at a hibachi restaurant. The chicken was dry, tasted somewhat burnt, and not very flavorful.
In their defense we did ask that they do not use butter in preparing the hibachi due to allergy concerns, so that may have had something to do with how things turned out.
We won't be going back.

Great Sushi.
This is another surprisingly good place to go for sushi - in fact I would say one of the two best places in Richmond. Sushi Bay has more of a family environment than Akida's and is nice for groups. The sushi is very good (though not quite as outstanding as Akida's) and they have a wide menu of japanese fare. Very wallet friendly.

Editorial Review.
Located in a strip mall, this eatery offers traditional Japanese cuisine, including sushi, noodles and tempura dishes.
