Just wanted to set the record straight: the previous reviewer is NOT talking about Cary Street Veterinary Hospital, but rather the Carytown EMERGENCY veterinary hospital. THEY ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT PLACES. I have been taking my dogs to Cary Street Veterinary Hospital for years and they are wonderful doctors. On the other hand, I (and many people I know) have had problems with the Emergency Vet Hospital.

I took my dog to cary street vet one saturday night when my vet was closed. They put her on a IV of medication and charged me $500.00. I took her to my regular vet on Monday they put her on a IV of medication and charged me $80.00. A couple of years later my dog had bumps under her skin and I thought that it was an allergic reaction to peanuts that I had given her the night before. She could not stop scratching herself. This was once again on the weekend when my regular vet was closed so I called the cary street vet to ask them if this could be an allergic reaction to the peanuts and the lady over the phone said that I needed to bring the dog in. I asked was there anything that I could give the dog for the scratching and she said she could not recommed anything until she seen the dog. She said that a nut could be stuck in the dogs throat. I knew that this was not it because the dog was eating and drinking fine. I just wanted something that they could recommend to help comfort her itching she was not sick she was playing with the other dogs. The lady repeated once again that she could not recommed anything until I brought the dog in. My opinion of this is that the true concern is not for the animal but for the payment that you have to pay for them to help your sick animal that we all know can sometimes feel like our own children. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE DOLLAR BILL AND THE HEALTH OF YOUR PET THE DOLLAR BILL IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR PET AT CARY STREET VETERINARY HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: MY DOG LIVED FOR THE WEEKEND
Cons: I had to take my dog back to the vet on Monday so she could have the same treatment
