Flour Power – Every conceivable cake combination can be explored at this Richmond mainstay. The yellow pound cake with sugar frosting is the most traditional, but you can customize with chocolate, spice (cinnamon and nutmeg) or lemon. Designs are a collaborative effort of the bakery and the customers. – – Almost Golden – Westhampton Pastry Shop has been on "The Avenues" since 1952. My siblings and I grew up just blocks away from this wonderful bakery. The meltaway pastries are a pleasure, especially when warmed for a moment in the microwave. The chocolate frosting on the donuts is rich, as are the delicious radio bars. The 5 layer caramel iced cake has a wonderful texture. Make sure to try a Christmas Tree coffee cake this December.
This bakery is the standard by which I measure all other bakeries. New Englanders boast that they've got good pastry, but they've got nothing on this jewel.

Hygiene?

The employees use the same tissue over and over, putting it their apron pocket between customers. That's not proper food hygiene. They make change after each sale, then use the same tissue. They have never provided napkins and now this. Not only is it frugal to the max, but something that I would think is against food safety standards.
