Let wood-smoked fresh fish woo at this Mediterranean-inspired grill..
The Scene
When you get overdosed on Carytown's trinkets and treasures, Limani can be a soothing oasis. Unadorned stucco walls, gray fabric-covered booths, futurist lighting fixtures and an electronic menu board make way for an even trendier lunch or dinner. Dine quietly or gather friends and colleagues for the best seat in the house: the chef's table, which seats 10 and gives a full view of the open kitchen.
The Food
Limani serves fresh line-caught fish grilled Mediterranean-style over wood and basted with oregano and infused olive oil. Always subject to availability, you'll still get a large selection of fish grilled whole and suitable for sharing (red snapper, Dover sole, black sea bass, loup de mer) and equally large choices cooked to order in individual portions (yellow fin tuna, Copper River salmon, diver scallops, grouper). Wehani rice (a sticky Thailand version), Parisian potatoes (herb-roasted) and boiled wild chicory greens are excellent sides. Finish things off with a healthy finale: the seasonal fresh fruit platter includes house-made yogurt and organic honey.
Who wrote the other Reviews?. For those of you who like to wait 1 hr. 30 min to get to dinner then this is the place for you. Even our bread came out 30min after we had been sitting there looking at the olive oil. After all the wait...the food was so oily!! I had ordered a simple dish - Salmon - and it is the worst, flavorless, oily fish I ever ate. I wonder if the owners wrote the other reviews - because the fish/service was not all that.
great fish, o.k. everything else. The fish was absolutely delicious. I loved every bite. The sides and the soup, however, did not meet my expectations. The soup was too salty and the vegetables had a funny taste. Next time, I will only order fish.
Fish-tastic. My favorite Richmond restaurant -- have been there several times and each was a joy. Great for food snobs! Delicious fish, amazing service, romantic ambiance. A real winner. Thank goodness for Limani!!!
Five stars. Limani's is Richmond's secret and one of her top three restaurants. Seafood, as fresh and quickly as airplanes can fly it in, is served here. There is nothing stuffy about it, Limani's can be as elegant or casual as you want it to be; you decide. The staff is professional, curteous and knowledgeable beyond expectation. Outstanding dishes and a balanced winelist make this restaurant one of Richmond's treasures.
