Editorial Review for Chimborazo Park – by Doug Budryk & Patrick Rooney
Chimborazo Park was the site of Chimborazo Field Hospital during the Civil War. At that time, the 27.91 acres made up the largest field hospital in the world. You'll get a great view of the southern part of the city. If intrigue is what you're after, vaults are buried under the park. Records are not available to explain, but it is thought that the vaults were used by beer brewers during the late 1800s. Chimborazo Park is also the headquarters of the National Park Service's Richmond National Battlefield Park System. The park features an exercise cluster with equipment for the disabled. There is also a bandstand with restrooms available. Should you feel the need to call a meeting, a park house will accommodate you. --Doug Budryk
