Editorial Review for Belle Isle – by Patrick Rooney & Doug Budryk
The Scene
The 54-acre island was the site of an infamous Civil War POW camp and has been home to much of early Richmond industry. The island features picnic tables, fishing, nature walks and an unmanned Environmental Education Center. Tackle the tough terrain with your bike, grab your binoculars and spy on some birds, or just go to Belle Isle to enjoy the view. If you need to indulge the nature lover in you, this is a great place to do it.
The Trail
Besides a great vista of the city, the trail rolls up and down--small risers and moundish hills have an intoxicating effect on a biker.
