beer is really great.
Mike (brewer) has really turned out some good beers
his hogwash IPA and the prohibition pilsner are the BEST!!!! Yum Yum....I almost forgot the service was great and the bartenter George was very knowlegable.
Missing it already. Dined early Sunday evening 4/25 with wife.Has vintage look in bar & dining area with great wood & lamps throughout first floor.Their Hefeweizen (wheat beer) solid brew for cool spring & summer quaff.Food quality & price better than expected-BBQ duck burrito & grilled chicken primavera outstanding.Finished meal with cherry cobbler...mmmmmm.If not having beer (why not?),they make own root beer & Brazilian Guarana soda (a little cream soda like). With pool tables & multiple tv's upstairs,a must for any visitor like myself (fan of good food, quality beer & cool but relaxed atmsophere).By the way, waitress Amber great for information.
Place to be on Fri and Sat. This place is great to go to on a Friday or Saturday. Has a good blend of people. Back room play hiphop top40 and middle room plays 80s. Also has a third room to chill with pool tables and dart boards. Only thing that is hard to do is get a drink since there is ALWAYS a line and get in the place after 11:30.
Richmond's first brewpub taps into a love of beer and good times in Shockoe Slip..
The Scene
The turn-of-the-century building in historic Shockoe Slip with dark wood beams and large, rippled glass windows overlooks the cobblestone-laden Cary Street. Old-fashioned lamp posts out front give this mellow pub an antique atmosphere. Twelve billiard tables, foosball, darts and seven big-screen televisions may keep you upstairs, while the dancing always tempts you over to Club Richbrau. The main dining and bar area (first floor) suffices for sampling a few lagers with your buds.
Da Beers
Griffin Golden Ale, the Old Nick Pale Ale, the Big Nasty Porter or one of six seasonal brews on tap will make a beer-lover blush. Known for its flavorful beer, Richbrau has also tried to beef up its restaurant appeal. You can buy its specialty beers at local stores for your home-based guzzling pleasure. Of course, like any good beer, the brews are available in 12-ounce bottles.
Something for everyone. Good beers, friendly staff & decent food are just some of the things that Richbrau has to offer. The place changes character from a mellow lunch spot on a weekday afternoon to a place to see & be seen on weekend nights. With pool tables, darts, foosball, a dance club, seven big screen televisions upstairs and a full dining room downstairs you are sure to find a pleasing way to pass the time with friends, good beer and decent food.
was ok ....l. was ok ... could be better ...little to pricey for not so good service ... but they try.
Richbrau. The music is good and the beverages are strong but it is extremely crowded.
Fun downtown hangout. My best friend had her 30th birthday party at Richbrau a few months ago, and that was the first time I'd been. I was really impressed--the staff was great (we didn't have a reservation, but they gave us a nice space upstairs anyway), and we spent most of the evening playing pool and drinking beer. It's a far cry from the dance clubs, but Richbrau manages to attract an energetic crowd.
