There is always plenty off tennis balls and toys laying around for the dogs to play with. The water station is now on a block of cement so, like my lab used to, the dogs can't roll around in the mud.
Hot competition or a cool walk in the woods: one park, lots of reasons to go..
Overview
Sure, there are great walking trails and a lovely lake if you know where to look. But Rockwood Park, as one of Southside's most treasured places to play, remains a magnet for sports lovers. Warm nights mean packed basketball courts, while Little League teams swing bats and cheer home runs. Tennis racquets also get fair play on one of the park's many courts; when the weather is nice, players can expect to wait. Bottom line: This is a park that encourages long, hard games more than long, slow walks.
The Experience
If you drive all the way to Rockwood's back corner, you can park and walk through some of the shadiest trails in town. Picnic shelters encourage visitors to sit and stay awhile. But the true payoff? A quiet, scenic lake that makes you feel like you're the only person at the park.
