Not E Carolina Type.
Read reviews on this site and rode from Hampton Va. to give it a try. While good, this is not the vinegar based pulled pork BBQ that I grew up eating in the Red Springs area of NC. I'm still searching for that taste.
The Apple pie that others raved about I found to be a bit too spicey.
Tea was too sweet.
Had a good meal but it's not what I was looking for.

Simple - BUT THE BEST!.
King's BBQ - - simple - good - NC style - vinegar sauce the best. Had BBQ "everywhere" - but nothing beats the "toasted" buns and taste of the BBQ. I've NEVER had any gristle or fat - just pure minced BBQ. My only disappointment...when I've driven there and it's closed@! But I'll always go back for more!

Good down home barbecue and wonderful service.
We drive from Short Pump to Petersburg often to get some of the best barbecue on earth. Good service, cheap prices, good food. I have lived all over the south and west and I think King's is one of the best places for barbecue. Not a fancy place just a good place for good barbecue.

Well worth the drive, this family 'cue stop will charm the heck out of your mouth..
The Scene
The wood spindles that seperate table stations give this country kitchen interior a feeling of largeness. The sign hailing motorists from parking lot displays the nature of King's: a faux brick hearth outlined in neon. Booths circumscribe the perimeter. The interior is half early Bob Evans, half Medieval Times.
The Food
This 'cue is the real deal. Tender Carolina-style pork screams with taste and isn't nearly as acidic as most Virginia barbecue. Tangy and redolent of vinegar sauce, it leaves the palate refreshed instead of burned out. The minced pork sandwich combines the highest quality pork and fresh rolls King's is known for.
What to Wear?
No need to worry about staining your favorite T-shirt. The probability of a Carolina 'cue stain is minimal. The vinegar sauce will only stain if you drop a piece of the meat on your clothes. Casual wear is appropriate.
Hint
If you've ever eaten at the King's BBQ in North Carolina on your way to Emerald Isle or the Outer Banks, then you know what this eatery is based on. Expect a waitress to yell "kiss my grits" anytime.
