Editorial Review for Soundhole – by Patrick Rooney
The Scene
Walls decked with posters of Sleater-Kinney, Rage Against the Machine and MXPX match the eclectic selection of CDs. If you're a country or classical fan, forget about it. If you like new alternative, punk, jazz, hip-hop or rock you'll want to scour these bins. They also sell music T-shirts, a wide selection of stickers and new release vinyl. Just like an old-fashioned record store. One of the few selections of used CDs in town that doesn't include four Blind Melon records, various Spin Doctors' discs and every promotional piece of junk ever marketed.
The Real Thing
Soundhole serves as a reminder of what a record store was like back in the day. Taking the philosophy that what you like defines you, this music store wants to convert you. Staff attitude: These guys know their way around the racks. They'll help you find the latest vinyl from Pearl Jam or the newest CD by Elliot Smith.
