Richmond >Red Hot & Blue
offensive management. I placed an order for take out over the phone. An employee took my name, order and gave me the total. When my boyfriend went to pick it up, they told him that there was no order under that name. When I called and spoke with the manager (after verifying the number and location), he was offensive and unapologetic from the very beginning. I make it a point to be friendly with sales clerks and restaurant worker, because I worked for years as both. This was not because I was being unreasonable. He told me that his bartender "does not make mistakes" and that if an order was placed it would have been put in the computer. He refused to admit that they made a mistake and implied that it was my fault, as though I made up placing the order. He talked to over me, and cut me off when I was trying to clarify how it could have been my fault. He said to me "you don't have to cry about it" in an offensive tone (I was angry at that point but not crying). As a female I take offense to a man telling me not to cry, just because I am angry about unacceptable behavior. This is the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. I have never been so disrespected by someone in the "service" industry. This is not acceptable behavior for a manager of a business, especially in this economy when companies cannot afford to treat patrons this way. I don’t usually write reviews of places, but the way I was treated is unacceptable.
Memphis-style barbecue with a blues soundtrack sweeps the nation..
Founded in Tennessee, this barbecue chain is the blues version of a big-city Hard Rock Cafe. Walls are lined with posters and memorabilia of musicians like Bessie Smith and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Ribs are the specialty of the house and come dry, wet or sweet. Pulled pork and fried catfish are complemented by the deep-fried onion ring loaf.
What a dining experience!.
As an update - the owner of the restaurant called after receiving a note from the RHB corporate (my e-mail complaint). I have to appreciate the efforts he is making that they are new business owners, local owners for this RHB and their first 4th of July. Admittedly they were not prepared and wanted us to come back so they can show us how it was really supposed to be. He was interested in making a change/corrective solution and that is what business is about - I like that. So, the following is our story but remember, we complained and they called to make it better.
The four of us went out to celebrate at Red Hot and Blue BBQ our son's birthday. It was July 4th but not that crowded when we got there. We were seated right away. People who arrived later than us were being served within 30 minutes but not us. We ordered MAC & Cheese, Cheeseburger, Ribs and a BBQ. We arrived at 6:56PM and finally saw food on our table at 8:20PM. We thought that was a long time and yet we continued to wait somewhat patiently. The food was terrible. The potato salad was awful. The onion straws were dried out . The BBQ had dark meat and 1/2 the sandwhich had cole slaw and the other half did not. It was so bad that I was unable to finish my dinner. The ribs that were order were not fresh and tasted extremely dry. All in all, it was the worst dining experience we had and yet we were charged for this terrible meal. Maybe it was a bad night, new cook but you would think that the manager and the waitress would have been alittle more forthcoming with the length of time for food to be served so that we could at least order appetizers!
Just plan bad..
We arrived at this restaurant at 5:45pm and there was only a few people there. We had been shopping all day and was tired and wanted to get home so we picked this place because how long does it take to get a barbecue sandwich. It took 30 minutes after our order was taken to get our food. A couple next to us ordered the same thing we did and it took 12 minutes to get their food.
Our food was cold, the potato salad nasty and I had a large piece of grissel in my sandwich. When I complained, I was not offered any compensation.
Mouth Watering. If youre into barbecue, stop by this location. Huge portions will leave you fulfilled. My first impression was a friendly staff that was very kind. Beautiful surroundings with pictures and guitars of blues legends. When you order tea, you actually get a real pitcher to drink out of. This helps when you hate to wait for refills. There lunch specials are divine and this place is my new hot spot. You cant go wrong with anything you order here. Highly enjoyable and satisfying.
Red Hot & Wonderful. Great food, great service, family friendly, awesome music and atmosphere. As they say at Red Hot & Blue," best barbeque you'll ever eat in a building that hadn't already been condemned."
