You'll find a fairly healthy contingent of business travelers. Hence, most attire includes women in power suits and men in ties. This does not mean that those in the crowd can't let their hair down. In fact, just like at weddings, it's usually the older folks that can actually dance. Fridays kick off with beach music from 6pm to 8:30pm, and after all the pulse-pounding surf music, things really heat up with classic oldies until closing. Saturdays rely on the established formula for success: '70s music. Live music from local and regional acts (they bring them up from the the beach) play on occasion, or a DJ sits in and rocks the house.…

Arthritic Nightmare. Stay away from this nursing home recreation center. The music will have you feeling like John Travolta. Every other song is a line-dance. If you can't line-dance but love to do it anyway, this is the place for you, you'll fit right in. Being from South Richmond, I'm embarrassed to have the club on this side of the river. Do yourself a favor and drive downtown to dance with other singles. Paying for a taxi downtown and back, so you don't drink and drive, is worth not going to Visions.…

Karaoke is the BEST!. Susanne Currie, owner of DJ Connection, runs the best karaoke in Richmond, inspiring a large and loyal following. There are several reasons for this: she is absolutely fair in her rotation, which is so important to regular karaoke singers; her music selection is enormous and varied; and her positive attitude encourages even the newest singer to participate. As a bonus, Susanne makes computer sheets for each of her regulars, with their usual songs listed, so they can just check off and hand in their choices for the evening at the beginning of the show. In short, DJ Connection is karaoke at its most enjoyable.
