Nothing special. Apparantly Mark Sprinkle likes it since he has so many 5 star posts that say so. Sorry Mark. I've been there 3 times. That's all. Nothing stood out. Nothing. The food was average at best. The drinks were terrible. I don't ever see a reason why I would go back.
Accept no immitation, this is authentic, just like the food in Mexico. Accept no immitation, this is authentic, just like the food in Mexico. I have been to Mexico and South America many many times, and this place makes you feel like your right back there. From the time you walk in you will see a member of the family and they are right there and always smiling. Then you sit down and the food is out of this world, it is truly authentic. Casa Grande, Mexico, Don Jose, are all the heat it up and serve, La Siestas food is home made and no other place has yet to come close.
La Siesta Mexican Restaurant. Traveling through Richmond on my way back to the beach, I stopped by La Siesta and experienced authentic Mexican food. The enchilada suizas were delicious and they had the best margaritas! The white sauce on the table with our chips and salsa was addicting. The atmoshpere was was relaxing, and our waiter Luis helped our kids say some words in Spanish. I wish they had this restaurant in Virginia, Beach.
Almost as authentic as Taco Bell. This place dates back to the time before the many Mexican immigrants moved to town, and the food is exactly as youd expect to find in a Richmond, VA free of Mexicans. I cannot understand how this restaurant continues to survive. With mediocre Mexican food available on every corner, why would anyone accept this poor imitation?
With authentic fare as colorful as its salsa, it's more than worth the mouth fire..
The Scene
With its interior performing a visual hat dance, La Siesta's bright colors and scattered greenery help it avoid typical South-of-the-Border decor. Its bright atmosphere and kid-friendly menu make this a great place for a family fiesta.
The Food
At La Siesta, the ingredients are fresh, and the food targets the right spicy spot. Keep an eye out for the three salsas that come with your chips: the salsa de crema (white) is cool, the salsa roja (red) is medium and the salsa verde (green) is spicy enough to sear your tongue to the roof of your mouth. And you can't escape a meal without ordering one of La Siesta's margaritas--they pack a powerful punch.
