Richmond >Cozzoli's Pizza
Wonderful Crunchy Crust! Courteous Service!.
We eat at Cazzoli's fairly often. The extra large sizes are a little on the pricey side when you start buying two or more pizzas. No matter the size, they all taste fantastic! They knead the dough themselves - so no worries that they'll run out of a size like some of the chain pizza joints, and they cook the pizza to order. The toppings always have appeared and tasted fresh. The crust, by far, is a favorite - it always comes out deliciously crisp! You can also order by the slice - which is convenient for a quick snack.
The only downside of this restaurant is its tight and narrow seating/standing room. The oven is kept out in the open, and not in the back, so come summertime it gets a little warm.
I would recommend calling your order in advance. For any order at any restaurant, it's a good idea to have them read it back to you so it is more likely to be correct, ready, and hot for pickup!
Once is too Much. OK. We ordered a white pizza and a sausage and mushroom red pizza and when we went to pick up the pizzas a half hour later, we were given a white pizza witch mushrooms and sausage. We advised them that wasnt out order, and reminded them of what our order was. 20 minutes later we got OVERCHARGED for both pizzas with one being cold. The toppings were thin and the crusts sucked. What a rip off!! Avoid this one.
Pizza lovers crowd into this narrow parlor for superb service and tasty Italian treats..
Kids, soccer moms and anyone who craves good homemade pizza line up to choose a slice. Pots of fresh flowers out front brighten things up a bit while the smell of garlic and oregano gives the atmosphere a kicky Italian feel.
Cozzoli's keeps things simple by offering just one good homemade pizza crust and two types of sauce: red or white. The white version contains fresh garlic sauce and both feta and mozzarella cheese. Diners can choose from 17 different toppings to individualize the order from there. Homemade pastas and sandwiches are also on the menu.
What to Skip
Save the bland Virginia ham sandwiches or cheeseburgers for the kids. A better bet: go for the spicy eggplant sub or an authentic gyro.
The pizza parlor only has counter service, but it's so customer-oriented that the staff will bring your order to the table if they have time. Carter Trumbo, Restaurant Editor
