Editorial Review for The Melting Pot – by Cindy Locke
In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.

I went for the first time with a group at work. we had a great time. Our service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Although this restruant for me is for special occassions only due to pricing. I definietly cant wait to go back. i really am surprised ot hear how poorly a family with children was treated there. You should have heard our group have fun. we know we were a bit loud with our laughing and having fun but no one complained. I always recommend to wait a day and put your thoughts in writing to management. maybe they would would have like to have the family back for another chance,
Pros: great food, great service, good ambienace
Cons: a little expensive for regular dining

We have been to MeltingPot restaurants in cities other than Richmond and they have been fine. The one in Richmond suffered from what seemed to be high staff turnover and poor training. The food is good, and the wine list superb, though there is no one there when we visited who seemed to know anything about the wines on the list. Service was slow, and staff only wanted to help "their tables". We had to wait a long time between courses which was unusual because the cooking is done at the table. The average age of the staff ("manager" included) seemed to be about 23. We expected much more given the price point.
Pros: wine list
Cons: slow, inexperienced service.
