I have to agree with the other reviews. My friends recommended David Word and many have known him for years. They all told me great stories of service. Not sure what has happened there, but my experience was different. I took my car in for a few issues and called a few days later (they never called me) to have them tell me that "it's done." Since I didn't approve any repairs, I was a little shocked. $150 later and now I'm done. Why wouldn't they call to ask to approve repairs? Seems dodgy. Oh well, time to find a new mechanic.
Pros: Seem to know what they are doing
Cons: Didn't call before doing the work.

I'd been going to David Word Auto for over a year. They just lost one of their loyal customers today. I made an appt. for an oil change, state inspection, tire rotation & balance and air filter change. I also asked them to check fluids, belts and hoses. When I dropped my car off, I asked them to call me if anything unexpected came up as well as when it was ready to be picked up. The last time I was in, I was "encouraged" to get a 30K mile "checkup," which I declined. Today, I was asked how many miles I had on my car (over 36K), and was asked the same question. I said I hadn't gotten the 30K check-up. I knew I was in for trouble then. The guy said, "Well, we'll have a look and see." Great. I called the repair shop about 11:30 AM to check how things were going, and was told I didn't need a new air filter, but did need a "cabin air filter," as it was all "gunked up." They said they ordered one already. Well, so much for calling me. What was I going to do? Too late now. I asked how much the bill would be; was told, "Don't know yet." Uh oh. Got a call about 2:30 that my car was ready. Asked how much the bill would be: over $215! I said I'd be by in a little bit. Had to get my jaw off the floor first. Got to the shop, paid for the bill and went to start my car. I noticed the inspection sticker hadn't been changed. Checked the glove compartment. No pink slip. I began to wonder if they did the work I just paid for? I went back inside and told the guy the situation. He went into the shop and yelled at someone. The mechanic came out, apologized and drove my car to one of the garages. Looks like they didn't do the inspection after all. I had to wait in the hot sun while they did the inspection. When he was done, he said, "Sorry I was so retarded." What this person doesn't realize is I have a close relative who is mentally retarded. I will gladly drive somewhere out of my way where I will be treated with dignity and respect than to give these jokers any business.
Pros: Convenience to business
Cons: Very condescending to women, smug attitude, mechanic made joke about mentally retarded whichI did not appreciate. Didn't call when requested (re: unexpected repair)
