Like an old Chinese grandfather, this restaurant has been around long enough to make you feel part of the family..
The Scene
Expect comfy booths, tables large enough for an office celebration and always a group of neighborhood characters waiting to pick up take-out orders. Kids fit in fine, and yes, you still see couples batting eyes over a Pu Pu Platter and sipping fruity mixed drinks with paper umbrellas.
The Food
Excellent versions of old favorites in huge portions. Lunchtime combo platters (egg roll, fried or steamed rice and entree) bring in an eclectic group of regulars from white collar workers to welders. Standout specialties at dinner include Mongolian beef with scallions, Joy Garden pan fried noodles, shrimp with lobster sauce, and Double Happiness. Vegetarians are also well represented with nine freshly prepared dishes--the vegetable lo mein version is good enough to convert even the most steadfast carnivores.
What to Wear
Casual is fine. On Sundays you'll see some after-church groups mixed with the cut-off crowd.
