If you don't mind the service.
Aunt Sarah's is always a great choice if you are looking form some not to bad pancakes for a reasonable price. They are always quick to seat and the OJ is always made fresh. My biggest complaint is that the service is never consistent. Since Richmond seems to be a very forgiving town I guess this is ok for some people.

comfortable and tasty.
Routine stop for us most weekends. Easy parking, quick service, food always prepared as requested, prices reasonable, staff always friendly and attentive. Feels much like a neighborhood restaurant.

awful kitchen staff.
We eat at aunt sarah's in Midlothian a lot, just for there hashbrown cassarole. After this time we will never go back to that location. After we put in our order the server went back t o the kitchen and the kitchen staff said, " Im not making anymore hashbrowns, im trying to get off." Yes we heard them say it, very unprofessional. When we got our food, it tasted awful, and we did not get to eat what we came there for. Cursing in the restuarnt was not needed by the employee's especially for our kids. We will never go back, sad to say we loved eating there.

Staff very professional during Ernesto aftermath and power outage!.
I was visiting with my daughter, a senior at VCU, just after Hurricane Ernesto had left 88,000 Richmond area residents without power (including my daughter). We decided not to go in initially since it looked so crowded, but ended up returning when we saw little other viable options. There was a crowd waiting inside the door but we were encouraged by the number of folks heading to the cashier to pay their bills. Those waiting to be seated were from all over Richmond so you know Aunt Sarah's had been busy all morning!
We were seated within 15 minutes, as promised, and the service was superb. (breakfast was yummy, of course!) Not one episode of eye-rolling, whining, complaints, or heavy sighs. (Have you noticed how staff seem to enjoy sharing their problems with customers wherever you go?)
But these men and women were all patient, efficient, and smiling. We were there about 11:30 am which meant they had been slammed for several hours by that time. I told each person there who had served us what a wonderful job they had done. My only regret is being unable to find a site where I could send this to their manager/owner/corporate headquarters.
This group at the Aunt Sarah's on Broad Street was great....I would definitely be a regular if I lived in Richmond but will suggest to my kids that we go back there whenever I am visiting them in Richmond.

Inflated prices.
Stopped in Lexington, VA on our way back to Charlotte, NC. Left after viewing the menu. The prices were extremely inflated. More than $8.00 for a breakfast plate. I'll stick to the Waffle House or Bob Evans.
