Great Tiki drinks!. Ok, I have to admit we went there to get a little tikiness and asked to be seated at the bar. At first we were disappointed as there was no bartender and no others in the bar. Nevertheless, we ordered a Tiki Tiki and a Zombie and were soon transported into a very good mood. The old photos on the wall, including the original owner in uniform, added to the tiki-ambiance. Another Tiki Tiki and Pina Colada later, conversing with a couple of guys picking up take-out (apparently most of the business that night) and enjoying a drink while waiting and watching Twins and a Pu Pu platter later, we were quite tikified. So, nice place, hope to eat more and drink a bit less next time (ok, I had a Fog Cutter too). LET's REVIVE that BAR SCENE folks! But drink sensibly of course...

Instead of carrying the torch for Chinese dining, the flame is flickering.. The Scene
For over 20 years, a steady clientele have marched loyally into this dimly lit but classically pretty West End institution. An older more conservative crowd still shares egg rolls, shrimp fried rice and a paper umbrella'd Pina Colada on weekend nights. Neighborhood business owners and a busy takeout service keep the lunch hour lively.

The Food
Some traditionalists still label this the "best Chinese" in town, but I suspect it is more out of familiarity and friendly service than the actual food quality. "Tiki Favorites" are a better bet than the Polynesian Classics, which have very little island ambiance. Fuji Duck has saut?ed Chinese vegetables and Virginia ham; the Tiki Duck version comes with a sweet and sour sauce and what passes for tropical fruits. Again, pass on to one of their simplistic and conventional dishes.
