been going to Bernies since the late 70's. Their regular is the best sub in town. The place may not always look the best and yes it does usually take a while to get your order so if you are in a hurry go somewhere else. I'll continue to get my subs from Bernies.

Not living up to reputation. If you like filth, this is the place. Food tastes decent, but a paltry portion of meat and cheese on the Italian. Not sure how it passes muster from the Health Dept.........

Looooong Wait!!!. The food is good but do you have 57 minutes to wait for your food on a Saturday????????

Excellent!!!. I just stopped in today, after having gone to the shop before and finally ordered a couple of subs for the family. The place was packed which I hear is the norm for an afternoon, but I didn't have to wait long as I called in my order. I usually get steak and cheese and this was no exception, only I ordered mine with mayo and not the signature pizza sauce that is usually on it. BIG MISTAKE!! That sandwich was AWESOME!! I had to take a bite of my husband's and its the only way to go!

The sandwich comes with provolone, sauce, pepper and oinions and is a little spicy so beware (not a problem for me because I LOVE spicy!) I can't say enough about how good it was!

Also, they don't accept credit cards, so CASH or LOCAL CHECKS ONLY!

The Best Sub in Richmond!. I have been eating at Bernie's since I was old enough to walk there. I am now 28, and I still go back about once a week for a whole Regular. It is by far the best sub I have ever had, and I have had them all. Yea, I will admit, the place has gotten a little run down over the years, but the food and people who work there are top notch. Do yourself a favor, stop in and try one. You'll be hooked.

Local Hole in the Wall - Literally - Great Subs. Having visited Bernies more than I care to estimate (over the course of 15 years) - nothing keeps me coming back like the Regular and the infamous Steak Sub.

Yes, some "come heres" might open the door and make a U-Turn, but regulars know that to keep customers coming back and to keep costs down you have to control your Administrative Costs.

If you don't like the atmosphere, grab a carry out order...and have a cold beer while you wait - nothing like chillin' out at Bernies.
