Editorial Review for Skilligalee Restaurant – by Carter Trumbo
The Scene
The ideal spot for that dinner with grandparents or a favorite uncle--although you'll also find families with children. Stone fireplaces, authentic, well-worn seafaring memorabilia and dimly lit rooms set the tone for a soothing meal.
The Food
Good starters are the cream of crab soup and oysters Chesapeake (baked with cheddar cheese, wasabi and bacon). Evening diners will find an extensive but classic menu: Fresh fish selections include Norwegian salmon, grouper, flounder, tilapia, rainbow trout, yellowfin tuna, rockfish and grouper. Nightly specials include wine recommendations. Classic menu portions are large, but the seafood casserole dishes seem skimpy for the price. To drink: Save room for the exceptional coffee drinks (15 selections at $5 each). Tennessee Mud (Jack Daniels and Amaretto), Skilligalee Special (Bacardi Black, Brandy, Creme de Cacao) and Comfortably Warm (Southern Comfort, Frangelico, Amaretto) are worth a try.

User Reviews for Skilligalee Restaurant

The 'West End Best' magazine featured an article a few months ago about the best crab cakes in Richmond and there was this amazing picture of a Skilligalees crab cake made with large chunks of crab meat and light on the filler. What a disappointment! It was one of the worst I have ever eaten and I swear there was almost no crab meat in it at all. The restaurant itself is in desperate need of a renovation and the average age of the clientele was geriatric. Not the nicest review but it was truly a disappointing experience if not bordering on creepy.
Cons: food is not good and ambiance is no better

I have been to Skilligalee several times and the food is always great and the service is just as good. I highly recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers.
Pros: food, lighting, service
