After a lukewarm experience at another store in Richmond, I had a great time shopping for my dress here, the staff made me feel at home. I was worried about high alterations prices (the reason I went elsewhere in the first place) but it tuned out to be very reasonable.
Claudia the seamstress I worked with, was extremely professional and knew her stuff. I loved working with her, she recommended the right alterations and at the end my dress fit perfectly and I looked beautiful.
I will ABSOLUTELY recommend Jingles and the seamstress Claudia to any bride-to-be.
I really enjoyed the dress shopping and ordering experience at Jingles…it was extremely intimate, personable as well as professional. I would recommend working with Kristy – she was so patient and helpful when trying to rule out dresses that were “no’s” since I feel like I liked every dress I put on! My dress order came into the shop within a few months of ordering and they were very patient and understanding in allowing me to come in and try on the dress a few times before my actual fitting to show bridesmaids who were in town as well as make sure my wedding shoes worked. The process was so wonderful that, we ended up ordering all 5 of my bridesmaids dresses as well as the mother of the bride dress from Jingles as well.
Having said that, the one thing I would recommend NOT doing is working with the seamstress here at Jingles, Claudia. I was extremely unhappy with her attitude, professionalism, not to mention her actual work. My dress could have looked 10 times better had it fit me properly, but she made me feel so horrible about making the changes that I wanted that I actually ended up crying in my dress while she was altering it, 2 days before my wedding. I left unhappy with my dress and it was my worst nightmare. Then during the reception, the French bustle broke on my dress and we ended up having to sew it up so that guests were not stepping on my train. She also took an extra bridesmaids dress and altered it to fit one of my JR maids, and the day of the wedding the seam on the bust of the dress came loose which we had to stich before the ceremony. In addition, my mom had her dress altered by Claudia and the hem on the bottom of the dress came loose and we ended up having to cut off the front end of the dress it before the ceremony. I would highly recommend working with another local tailor before even thinking about working with this woman.
Terrible service and alterations. Place is a rip off. – First of all my daughter moved to Virginia from Ohio. My wife and I still live in Ohio. When she met the man of her dreams and got engaged we drove to Virginia to go wedding dress shopping. Went to Jingles and they were very nice at first. My daughter found the perfect dress ($2,500.00). A little more than I wanted to spend, but , after going to two other dress shops, it was the one. The problems started after we paid for half of the dress as a down payment then my wife and I returned to Ohio. My daughter returned to Jingles (2 1/2 hour drive) for her fitting. My daughter wears a size 10 dress and Jingles said they measures her as a size 16. Being by herself she questioned them and and they said wedding dresses run small. They ordered her the size 16. The dress came in and we returned to Virginia for the fitting, The dress was entirely too big for her. They had to take in 6inched off of the top and 3 inches off of the waist. Again the dress was too bug from the beginning. I complained at the time and was told that the alterations would correct the problems. We did not return to Virginia until before the wedding and upon seeing the dress I was heartbroken. Jingles alterations were terrible. The dress had crystals, pearls, and lace from the waist up and they were missing on the sides of the dress, Some of the lace was loose without the crystals and pearls on it and there were many loose threads sticking out. I complained through the Better Business Bureau but only got rude remarks that it was my daughters fault for not complaining at the time of picking up the dress, They asked why we did not return the dress before the wedding for further alterations ( another $300.00), Again 2 1/2 hour drive, and we had many other thing to prepare before the wedding. It was their responsibility as professionals to make the dress right the first time. I asked for at least the $$300.00 alteration fee and for them to send me the materials they took off of the dress back since the did such a terrible job so I could have the dress fixed before a reception we had in Ohio. I got neither the money not the materials. I even talked to Ellen the owner on the phone and she was very rude then as well, If you insist on a dress from Jingles, take control of what they order and don't let them rip you off as they did me. Next visit to Virginia I do plan on a trip to Jingles to complain again in person.
Bridesmaid fitting – Very disappointed in the customer service. My daughter made arrangements by telephone to have a bridesmaid fitting with the bride today. (She lives in New York) The lady behind the counter told her she did not have an appointment and could not be fitted. The lady suggested to take the dress back with her to New York to get it hemmed. (Kind of hard to take it back on a plane!) She only decided to fit her in when the bride's mother came in the store and I told her that we have to take the dress around the corner because she did not have an appointment and they could not fit her in.
Nothing but love for this hidden gem – I literally just got home from my shockingly pleasant experience at Jingles.
After having an irritating experience at David's Bridal where the salesperson gasped when I told her I was getting married in my favorite jeans for my low key/ fun Rock N Roll style wedding and tried to sell me a dress I didn't want anything to do with, I expected the same reaction from the next store I walked into.
This was so not the case. I went in early this morning (wearing jeans, a fleece, and Sketchers) to look for a simple tiara to dress up my comfy and cute outfit I'm wearing for my wedding. I was very hesitant to tell her this along with my low budget.
The reaction I got was so heartwarming and sweet. The saleslady was extremely helpful and nice. She didn't even flinch when I told her what I was wearing and my budget. She just went and grabbed some hair pieces and found the perfect tiara. Originally $205, I was able to purchase this simple yet elegant piece for $30.
I would highly recommend this shop to anyone and tell everyone to stay away from David's Bridal. I've worked in customer service and retail jobs for over 20 years (including Walt Disney World) and will only go to a place that actually listens to their customer vs trying to make that big sale.
Thanks again for making this a wonderful Monday!
Ugh! Not what I signed up for! – You kind of expect a bridal store to be a happy place, right? If so, you'll be as surprised as I was that nobody smiles at Jingles. I was in and out fast--just long enough to see what they had and move on to friendlier stores.
Rude from the beginning – Two of my bridesmaids and I decided to make a trip to the various bridal shops/boutiques in the Richmond area this past Saturday. We were excited and ready to get on the road! Our first stop, Jingles. We pull up to the location off West Broad street and see a sign that says Trunk Show. If you knew me you would know that I am not your typical bride. I have not been buying wedding magazines, tearing out wedding dress ideas, or feeverishly visiting wedding websites. I am busy with work and scouting out event homes for our destination wedding. So when we went out this day I was more or less previewing locations and seeing what they had to offer. This way I could nail down a few locations to make appointments with. I mean, who wants to schedule an appointment with a shop that doesn't carry dresses that peak your interests. For all I know Jingles could be a whole in the wall of a place with nothing to offer. Side note - My proffessional background is sales, marketing, advertising and a kean eye for customer service. Back to my point - My bridesmaids and I walk in and have a look around. We look for a sign in sheet. There is none. So we continue to look at dresses. We decide there are two I like and want to talk with a consultant. Thats when it happens. We are approached with a sinister "can I help you?" we turn around and before we can say anything the woman/owner barks at us. She makes it very clear that they are booked with appointments and that if we wanted to try anything on we would have to schedule an appointment. Before we could tell her that we just wanted to jot the item numbers down she rips the two dresses out of my maid of honors hands! I, at this point, tell her their will be no need to schedule an appointment. Watch out ladies - if you want to put yourself in an even more stressful situation... go to Jingles!! You wont see me there. lol
Fantastic Experience – My matron of honor and I went shopping at Jingles today and found the boutique very impressive!! Not only were we able to browse the bridesmaid gowns at our own discretion, but we were helped every single step of the way. We had a blast with the associate who was helping us, she actually played a very significant role in our experience. She was very helpful and knowledgeable, but more importantly, you could tell that she loves what she does and goes above and beyond to make sure that your time is well spent. I recommend Jingles to any bride in the metro area, don't drive to DC, you'll find everything you're looking for at this boutique-and if you can't find it, they will find it for you! We found some wonderful dresses at great prices-$200 and up-we can't wait to get back in the store and try more on!
Great Experience with Jingles – I was surprised at both the description and the review. Although I am on a very limited budget and went in (alone!) wearing jeans and a T-shirt, everyone there was not only very helpful, but unobtrusive. That's hard to find when you are shopping for bridalwear and people's incomes depend on their sales. I have had problems in stores at times with people acting snobbish, but that was not my experience at Jingles.
There was a sale rack where I found my dress for $800. Yes, that's expensive. But, the $800 dress, marked down from $2000 was a real find. It was the only dress I was comfortable in.
I almost didn't even stay in the store, because the prices in the front were so high. But when I asked if they had lower-end dresses they showed me to the proper rack. And, there were a few other dresses less costly than mine. But, when I tried the dress on just for the heck of it (I really didn't think I'd spend that much on a dress) it was so beautiful that I couldn't stop thinking of it for weeks afterwards.
One of the things I really appreciate about Jingles is that no one insists on coming into the dressing room with you (I'm a pretty private person and I don't like that. Also, I find it sort of insulting that you aren't trusted enough to put on the dress without destroying it.) The consultants shared honest opinions about what worked and what didn't, and they waited outside of the room to help. I even told them I didn't think I could afford something so expensive. They still helped me and were very friendly and nice and didn't pressure me at all. I was given a card as I left.
I eventually bought the dress and was happy to hear they would keep it at the shop for me. I go back and try it whenever I like, and everyone is still very nice.
So far, so good.
I will add more after the fittings, but didn't feel like it was the right thing to do to not share my experience. I would hate someone to not give Jingles a chance. It's near all of the other bridal shops on Broad St. and it's an excellent chance to support local small business.
Hope the review helps!
