Tips for Mexico Restaurant

worst ever.. Service and atmosphere were all fine but the food, specifically any meat product, was very poor. Beef and chicken both tasted as if they'd just been boiled and kept far away from any seasonings. Taco, taquito, and tamale all the same experience.

I have honestly never had such an unpleasant Mexican restaurant experience. Won't be going back.

Taco Bell is a better choice. I work the evening shift, and my co-workers and I love ordering out dinner. We decided to get mexican this time. We have always gone to Moe's Southwestern Grill (they have these awesome made to order burritos), but to our disappointment the chain closest to us(the forrest hill ave location) had closed. Mexico restaraunt is in the same shopping center. What a disappointment! My co-worker and I both ordered a large combination dinner (grande especial). When I asked the person on the phone if I can get some of the items with chicken, steak, etc, he told me that it came only as all beef( okay, so that means beef taco, beef buritto, beef enchilada, beef tamale..whoa.) When I asked for the total he said he wasn't near a computer so he couldn't give one to me.I thought both comments were a negative sign about this place. When I went to pick-up the meal I had to wait on my order (meaning..I paid for it and they didn't have anything for me, no explaination, no "it will be just a few more minutes" "coming right up", nada! and had to listen to the front door staff make jokes in spanish, laughing and giggling, very unprofessional. (I thought, well at least it will be hot). Not true! After removing a human hair from my meal (ordinarily a turn off, but I was starving) I found the food cold, bland, and basically just as a tray of ground beef made to look like different things. Even if you could choose the meats that came in the combination dinner to break up the monotony, I still think that taco bell would have been a better choice!

mexcio restaurant. we love mexican food, and have gone to mexico many times, but on our last trip there i saw something that will prevent me from going back, i don't know if all mexican restaurants do this but at mexico i saw them reclycle/reuse the chips...they take your left over chips and add them to this big container of chips and then fill up new baskets from the same container....so i would not go there again......

Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!. By far, the BEST Mexican restaurant in Richmond. I've been going here (and only here) for Mexican cuisine for about 5 years or more now and I LOVE it. I introduced my husband to it right after we got married in 2005 and it is now his and my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and plentiful and the pricing is just right. We visit one of their locations at least 3 or 4 times a month. The waiters are very friendly and always greet you with a smile and they bring the food to you hot, sizzling and ready to eat. The entire time I'm eating, I'm also dancing and humming to the music and I am smiling throughout the entire meal. We've tried other Mexican restaurants, but we always return to Mexico.

My favorite resturant.... This is by far my favorite resturant in Richmond...mexican or otherwise. I have been going here for years (probably around 8) and now enjoy the locations at Stratford Hills Shopping Center and the Arboretum. The service is always fast-there is never a line and you can either take your time or eat in leave in 20 minutes. The food is always the best. The Burrito California with Steak is amazing. Good prices as well, a lot for your dollar. Does not compare to El Paso, Mi Hacienda, La Siesta, or any other mexican resturant. A little like Don Jose, but better.

Opps-Another Food Failure. Having patronized another Mexico restaurant sometime ago I vowed to never go back. Well, I did and someone needs to shoot me, keel haul or make me clean cess pools-barefooted if I ever go back. A bland and a poor imitation of southwestern style cuisine. My parents started my interest in southwestern style and have pursued the cuisine for 45 years. The staff acted in a professional manner and I even over tipped the server as you all should--waitstaff only makes $2.15 an hour!

Sadly disappointed. I'm a recent southwestern transplant and I love Richmond. But I've got to say that Mexico Restaurant is easily the most disappointing Richmond dining experience I've had after reading rave reviews. The food was extremely bland and boring. I've had much better Mexican food at a number of other restaurants (although none in Richmond). Having said that, I enjoy spicy food. The atmosphere at Mexico Restaurant was satisfactory, the service was pleasant, the food came quickly, and the prices were very reasonable. But this place simply does not deserve the 9.4 rating it currently holds in my book. It's just your average Mexican restaurant.

Muy Bueno. Mexico Restaurant is one of the most relaxing places I have found to spend my "little" hour during my lunch break. The staff is always the same and they are highly efficient. The fajitas have the best flavor. The salsa is always fresh and the chips are always hot. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

El Paso on the Guacamole. All the food is excellent. Your orders arrive in a quick manner and the food is hot.

Just pass on the Guacamole - it has a pudding like consistency, does not contain actual chunks of guacamole and is rather bland. Otherwise this restaurant is a hit.

NO SMOKING. I have eaten at this restaurant 3 or 4 times a month for years. Tonight we were told that they did not have a smoking section. If you smoke I would not recommend. There are many other fine Mexican restaurants nearby that offer smoking sections. I have been a loyal customer but not anymore.
